Yeah maybe. But hes put up 59 and 57 pts (with multiple linemates/teams) the last 2 seasons, had a good playoffs, in a jumping cap in 24-25 and 25-26 and his former teammate, cozens, got 7.1 for 8 yrs after 38 and 68 pt seasons....
I think hes a 7-7.5mil player, but its quite possible in this jumping cap, that he wants 8-10mil

I'd prefer not to take Deslauriers (use that money on Trenin along with Cogs' money - he's done imo but the Avs may re-sign him though I don't see a raise for him if they do and JJ should be done too) and just make it Frost, Zamula and the 2nd.
It's a realistic take on a maybe if Mitts can't be signed and also an offer the Avs should consider if it were actually offered in reality. Good job on the whole imo.</div></div>
Yeah, agree with that, maybe Desalauriers at 50%, I do think that COL needs somebody to pick up MacDermid's role, and unlike MacD, deslauriers is an everyday player

Yes, it's only his rights and if Konecny had term then I'd say Konecny for Mitts' rights would be fine (pure value). A first and Hathaway would not be and Konecny with only one year also wouldn't be. There's also no C in this trade that the Avs would almost certainly be looking for in any trade that gave up Mitts (bar them finding one in FA). Tbh if it were Frost (plus probably a small addition) then there might be a conversation to be had.</div></div>
I just did a COL team, with frost, zamula, deslauriers AND a good 2nd for Mitts. It isn;t an equal player of Mitts, but it fills 2-3 holes on the team and leaves cap space....

Making key adjustments
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>littlejerryseinfeld</b></div><div>Don't understand dumping skinner to be 7 million under the cap with Atkinson in the pressbox and big 4th line contracts</div></div>
Ultimately its preparation for JJP, Quinn, TK resigns.
CleaRING THAT 9MIL FOR the next 3 yrs opens alot of options, and having that cap space to address weaknesses or injuries goes along ways. Ideally Greenway would be better than hes been and one of the grittier two way better option guys like blueger or dakota go up to 4th line, while having rosen getting some experience with some nice two way guys on 4th line.
Without overiding CF's positions, maybe 1 of the LW benson and dakota go to RW on 3rd line with savoie, and a 4th line of greenway-blueger-rosen is better.
Just trying for a better mix of 2 way players with size to allow the little young guys to develop AND produce at the same time.
Atkinson, is expiring so stands in the way of nothing moving forward BUT hes a far better option and vet leader than anyone we've have, both in the locker room and in case of an injury on the wing.
But ideally half of the BUF posters on here fear making a big move (Koneckny) as the cap issues it creates for 25-26 and the RFA signings, moving Skinner for a 1 yr of a retained Atkinson cures this issue AND allows moves in season (which we didn;t see last yr)

Fair trade value
Fair value? Maybe,
but a team with Dach as your number 2 center isn;t getting far.
I like his game, but hes played just 60 games the past 2 years. In 5 full seasons hes played just 212 games with 99 pts.
Armia as a 2nd liner? A still very small 1st line.
Dont know, maybe some good ideas here, but nothing to move the needle.

IF Landeskog comes back
I think the only problem with that, is that Mittelstadt is probably closer to 8mil than 5mil. His former teammate, Cozens, got 7.1mil long term on lesser results. Walker wants closer to 5mil than 3mil, and in this market probably gets it too.
Add in that you have an 18 skater team, (with older guys like Johnson, Cogliano) with 6mil on LTIR maybe only for 24-25 and theres issues here

True, but its only his rights and you;'re only trading him if his demands are too high.
And Koneckny for mitts's RIGHTS straight up isn;t off by tons, but adding a 1st and a high in the round 2nd and a desireable bottom 6 guy?
Again this isn;t for the player its for the negotiating rights alone, and Mitts might be asking for 9+, and its also relative to what COL can afford or do to reverse the latest course of diminshing results.
I for one, dont think hes on the market, COL keeps him is a no brainer, but I cant see PHI dismantling and selling off young players/draft picks for young players who look better elsewhere.

Kampf and Jarnkrot are long shots for 30 pts, so your 3rd and 4th lines are probably worse offensively than this yr,
but i like that you other than moving marner you've been able to create a team and bring in a goalie and 3 dmen and address the biggest weakness

Not bad, "outside the box" ideas, but....
that defense looks pretty toothless offensively. McCabe and Roy are probably long shots to generate alot of offense, both are probably in the 20-30 pt range.
Benoit, Hague, Kovacevic are all 15 pts or less guys. Considering it was one of the main aims last offseason for treliving to get Klingberg to address this, I cant see him not trying to get a number 3 puck rushing type.
But I like the fact someone just isn;t trying to add forwards at the expense of the defense and goaltending.

Necas is a RW, not a C, and thats a huge amount to give up for his rights.
Thats a huge amount to give up for the RFA rights of Mittlestadt, Koneckny alone or the 1st and one of Hathaway or the 2nd is plenty
How many wingers do you need? You've trtaded 4 to bring back 2 (one of which robertson is a massive overpayment for a smallish often injured winger).
And Emil Andrae is probably a better shot than Broberg, but you've given him 2mil at the cost of a 3rd?
DeBrusk is a nice winger, but his very limited physicality puts him below bertuzzi, mantha etc.... as a power forward.
And Sanheim for Drury and a 3rd? Rolling out yoerk and drysdale, zamula and bonk as your top 4 is a recipe for disaster, both in team results, any crease clearing/stay at home/physicality and their own development.
These are all pretty much bad deals for Philly, and while Mittelstadt/drury are nice adds, I think you've dismantled the team in the interest of believing that the grass is greener elsewhere.

You've just signed blueger, cousins, dakota to long term deals, so theres maybe room in 25-26 for 1 youngster?
Just my opinion, but I'd try and break one in this year in the bottom 6, instead of 3-4 of them withering on the vine....

Someone like UFA Dakota or C/LW Laughton would be a cheaper/easier acquisition.
And how long are we keeping rosen, ostlund, kulich, savoie off roster, to play 5 older guys in bottom 6? And not re-signing Krebs?

Simple question but why would RFA Robertson ACCEPT LESS THAN HIS QUALIFYING OFFER? (Or Bemstrom? Or POJ) This is free agency, not blackmail.
And I dont know about you, but Timmins is a really bad defenseman that even TOR wants rid of (a club that annually adds 2 or more dmen at the TDL), you really think hes a missing piece?

Nik cant be traded in program and hes suspended for the year, so no one is taking that problem in 24-25.
And with Hart/Dube/etc.... considered non-roster BUT still counting against the cap last year, I dont think the NHL does COL a favour by waiving any rules.
Even after he emerges from the program, no one is taking that risk without MASSIVE payment from COL, until hes clean long term.

All PIT is offering is never-weres/has-beens for youth.
John Ludvig, a 24 yr old with half an NHL season, often injured is worth what?
older Matt Nieto on LTIR after a 22 game NHL season is worth what?
Acciari, at 2mil and over 30 with a NTC after a horrendous season is worth what?
Jonathan Gruden, a 24 yr old no longer a prospect and a pretty okay AHLer, is worth what?
Jesse Pulijarvi....enough said
What value do any of these offerings have? And why would you be getting value back for them?

Liljegren probably doesn;t have the value of Frost, and certainly PHI doesn;t need liljegren as much as they need Frost, but I wouldn't see an even trade there.
Robertson is a smallish offensive winger, of which PHI already has too many and a logjam at wing in their top 9 (koneckny, farabee, michkov, laughton, foerster, brink, atkinson, tippett, cates all are already in mix for top 3 line wingers).
Frost, based on 2 good production yrs on a bad offensive team and looks capable of more, is worth more than an 8th yr Liljegren who is, IMO, declining in value (reduced minutes in playoffs or healthy scratch last 2 yrs, TOR annually acquires 2 dmen at TDL who play more than Liljegren, never played close to a full season, not shown top 4 consistent ability in 8 yrs). Just dont think they're close to value

Good thing PHI has at least 2 RW/C playing LW already then.
I should have said PHI doesn;t need any bottom 6 wingers and has a logjam of top 3 line wingers (tippett, koneckny, farabee, foerster, brink, atkinson, cates, laughton, michkov).
And a team that has Hathaway and Deslauriers need Bastian, why?
I get the thinking of dropping salaries on a team that has cap space, but they need/want neither of those, nor would pay for the opportunity

Konecny Skinner Trade
Koneckny as an expiring UFA is worth Kulich and a 1st (maybe not the 11OA in 2024, but BUF is banking that their 25 or 26 1st is much lower).
Taking Skinner for Atkinson is worth more than a good 2nd or Krebs, so taking Skinner for Atkinson RETAINED is easily worth Krebs and a 2nd and thats a pretty fair deal all in.

Probably not enough with Skinner and 3 yrs left at 9mil. Take out the FLA 1st from PHI and the BUF 2nd, and maybe.
Koneckny is worth a 1st and Kulich alone, (maybe not 11th overall but close), so its Atkinson at 3mil at 1 yr for SKinner at 3 yrs for 9mil for Krebs alone is not enough.

Getting the "overpaid forward" off the books sooner is valuable for them... I think I'd still be willing to give you 11OVR instead of the 2026 1st.
Or trading down from 11 to 32 for the Panthers pick and working a deal out that way.</div></div>
I think its a huge cap dump for a small one in atkinson (obviously ignoring the NTC/NTM of Skinner). Its an illustration of the price Koneckny would get even as an expiring UFA/PHI needs on their roster, and how BUF could make an extension work.

KInd of my thinking....solid vet, plays PK, okay skater, always near top of league in hits, a regular shift, and a quality player (even if its to replace MacDermid), at 50% hes worth more than 2 future 5ths though, but COL seems like a quality spot for him.
And you're right PHI isn;t using its last retention spot, giving up a solid locker room guy for 2 5ths.

to be fair, the way they paid matthews and marner did age like milk versus their contemporaries, and the above roster is example of a team with the same disappointing results, a dwindling prospect/draft pick pool trying to stay a contender, constantly looking for duct tape band aids on a program that hasn;t worked and looks stuck in neutral.
Matthews and Marner should have been in the 8-10mil range, not 11+

I think Frost has more value than Liljegren, (not to throw liljegren into the shed, but hes an 8th yr pro who is consistently put on 3rd pair or reduced minutes or press box, cant play a full season) but its also about what PHI needs, and they need frost ALOT more than Liljegren
