HOLES TO FILL AND POTENTIAL TARGETS
Jarvis would cost you Dahlin+, dude just had a 65 point season with a torn rotator cuff, labrum, and a broken finger. Just don't even ask.

Canes pass. Necas > Hronek, KK > Miky, Vancouver needs to add, not Carolina. Even then, Carolina have no interest in either Hronek or Mikheyev.

A lotta nothing for Necas. Armia holds no value. Harris, Kidney, and Strubble don't move the needle. Roy could be an interesting future piece, but him and a 1st for Necas doesn't get it done. So, you'd still be Necas-less. You're looking at Necas being involved for one of Slavkovsky, Caufield, or Suzuki. There's a world where it could be Guhle, but probably the three big forwards. Carolina don't want futures, according to LeBrun.

Only reason the Canes would do this would be to clear cap room to extend Guentzel.

Necas destroys Buch analytically, he's 5 years younger and comes with team control. He's HANDS DOWN the more valuable player here.

Controversial Trade Ideas
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheGoalieGuru</b></div><div>You are filling Burns hole with an ELC. Fast is no longer worth that cap hit either. You can pay both Necas, Jarvis, and resign Guentzel by moving Burns and Fast. Having Freddie and Demko is clearly the better tandem to start with and even if you want to save a bit more, trade Freddie. He’s no liability and a team may be looking to add a veteran for a tandem.</div></div>
Morrow's already filling the hole left by Pesce, there's not another RD in the organization ready for NHL time, so they can't replace Burns internally, and Fast is worth the cap hit. They can pay all three of Jarvis, Necas and Guentzel without moving Burns and Fast. Freddie/Kochetkov makes more sense for the coming year since both Demko and Freddie have long injury histories. No reason for Carolina to touch this

The Canes need to win now. If not then you might as well start moving players and starting over.</div></div>
No it doesn't. Moving Burns and Fast creates two holes in the lineup after moving major pieces that would need replacing. Demko might be the better goalie now, but there's no reason to say that he definitely will be next season, because Kochetkov ended the regular season as the 2nd hottest goalie in the league, only after Freddie Andersen. Kochetkov for Demko is always going to be a no from Carolina, right now anyway

There's a world where you can have Burns and Fast, but a PK for Demko swap doesn't work for Carolina, PK's way younger, and his peak might actually be similar to that of Demko, if he can shake the inconsistency. And his cap hit is so much cheaper, which the Canes need going forward.

6.75 to Necas, 6 to Pesce, 9 to Guentzel, 5 to Jarvis, leaves 4 million for a 3LD, and a top nine winger. That can be increased to up to five million with Martin going down. The cap isn't a problem.

But the take that "cap isn't an issue for the Canes" is nuts. You have 10 UFAs and 5 RFAs to sign this offseason and your GM just walked. Cap is definitely an issue.</div></div>
With 30 million in cap space... it's really not. With more than a third of the cap available, there's plenty of room for the Canes to retain almost everyone. They have to pick between Skjei or Pesce, which is impacted largely by Nikishin, but otherwise, cap really isn't an issue this summer.

You're right, it's actually about 3 metrics, and the most important three in xGF/60, xGA/60, and xG%. Not to mention, Necas is 5 years younger, and comes with team control where Buchnevich is a rental. There's not a single reason why Buch should be worth more than Necas.

Cap isn't an issue for the Canes, they can sign Necas and fill the rest of the roster out. They don't want futures. Roy isn't ready for the top 6, he might not be ready for the top nine on a contender, and Rod would never consider putting a young kid so far up the lineup. Canes decline

Necas' camp wants out of CAR... that doesnt help his value.</div></div>
Necas doesn't want out of Carolina, he wants topline minutes. There's a reason he's been very open about coming back.
I'm more than happy keeping KK. He's a fine 4.5 million player. His production waivers, but the way you're talking, I'm assuming you watched all 93 Canes games? Kotkaniemi had a season worth his contrat, he just couldn't get the puck to go in

The impossible
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caerii</b></div><div>That site does not list the line in positional order, it just lists the players
For comparison sake, you can look at Joel Eriksson Ek's page here:
https://frozenpool.dobbersports.com/players/joel-eriksson-ek
Where he's only in the middle in like 3/9 top line combinations, but I assure you he has never played anything but center in his life
This is why I question if that poster is actually a Hurricanes fan, or even watches any of their games.</div></div>
JEEK has a tendency to get drawn into the boards, and it lists them by most time spent in what area. If JEEK spends most of the game on the wing, he'll be listed as a winger. It's almost like taking draws isn't what makes you a center in the NHL...
