This should be a very easy no from Kyle Davidson and the Chicago Blackhawks.

A Hope and a Prayer
I don't think Chicago moves Murphy in the offseason. He was injured most of the year and they really like him in the dressing room. They bring Murphy back and let his stock rise for a trade deadline deal.
Most Leafs fans shoot down Murphy to Toronto trades but he would be a good fit for Toronto, Big body defensive D-man.
If Murphy comes back healthy this year they are probably looking for a similar deal to what they got for Mccabe, if not more..

Optimistic but not sure realistic
Chicago should take this trade, but if Lee was going to be traded to Chicago it would have happened last week.

This is Chicago, one of the big organizations, 21 mil in unused cap space, 12 picks in 1st 2 rounds of the next 3 drafts and theyre marching out that lineup? I'd cancel my season tickets.</div></div>
Not the least bit surprised to see your favourite team is Toronto. When things get tough turn your back on the team..
This is the flow of the NHL, Chicago pushed to be a cup contender for 10 years. As a fan it sucks that there haven't been many "important" hockey games the last handful of years but help is coming in the form of prospects. You mentioned all the draft picks still to come.. Chicago probably looks for another top 10 pick this year and starts spending on free agents the summer of 2025. The product on the ice isnt there yet, but there is lots to be excited about as a Chicago Fan.
I saw today that season tickets have a 96% renewal rate, with an increase in new ticket holders.

Chicago, or any team for that matter will not be retaining 1.5 M on Huberdeau for 6 years.

Just some names I think we should target
If Necas is available I think Chicago takes a serious look at him. But they dont blow up the rebuild for Necas.
Moving some draft capital and maybe a LD prospect for an NHL ready player fits KD's description of getting more competitive.
2OA, Korch, Moore, Nazar wont be involved.

An article said this for Marner
The only way Chicago does that trade is if Kyle Davidson has Foligno over at his house and his kids submit the trade so they can play Fortnite with Marner again.
Korch and Moore arent going anywhere.

Blackhawks Next Year
Big Fan of the Vegas trade for Roy, but it probably costs more.
With Vegas tight to the cap having a capable 3C at Roy's AAV is important to their depth. But if they were willing to move him and we can use draft capital and not high end prospects to make a deal this should be something Chicago looks into.
I dont think the UFA's are the way Chicago goes this year, Kane can always come back but not crazy about the others.

UP AND DOWN
Chicago might do this if there is someone they really like at 15. Holl would be fine as a 5/6 right shot, on a rebuilding team with limited right shots on the back end.
RD is a weakness but they have a bunch of lefties in the AHL ready to make the jump. 5 spots isn’t that big of a jump but this is an idea that could work for both sides. If there is a name they like at 15 I could see this being a draft day trade.

I can see Chicago taking on a contract this offseason, im not positive Johansen fits what they are trying to build.
Speed and high compete level has been a theme throughout the rebuild. I havent seen much of Johansen lately but that's not exactly what I think of when I hear his name.

If Chicago moves Murphy this trade could make sense for them. Add a 2nd and a veteran D-Man with a reasonable cap hit.
If Murphy isnt moved Chicago should pass to keep the roster spot open for a young guy.

Chabot
Left handed D men shouldn't be Chicago's top priority, but I dont hate it from Chicago's perspective.
I would rather send either of the other two 2nd rounders instead of the 33-38th OA pick.
Chabot cant seem to stay healthy.. 3rd year in a row he's missed significant time with an injury. Small Red flag but its an interesting idea.

That is not a move the rebuilding Blackhawks are looking to make.
They have the space to take on Cap but they will not send back Dach and a 2nd for those pieces.
They can sign "veteran presence" in the offseason without using assets to get it.
Owen Beck, Wifi and Anderson unretained might get you Dach + picks

Saw this in an article thoughts
Before the news of the cap increase I didn't see a way Toronto could afford to resign Nylander without moving one of their other expensive forwards.
The projected Cap gives Toronto a new hope to keep the band together.
I agree that Toronto should not have to send two 1st's in this deal. In this hypothetical deal I assume Nylander is signing in CGY?

Connor Brown has not looked very good thus far. I dont think he is a priority UFA.
I expect Chicago to sign or trade for another veteran UFA similar to Foligno/ Uncle Perry to help get to the Cap Floor.
Maybe not my 1st choice but Tarasenko comes to mind.

You may need to find another team for double retention. Chicago has some guys they might want to move with retention. Burning their 2nd slot for a 4th round is pretty meh.
