Some random possibilites
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CW_73</b></div><div>I agree Marchessault could take a contract not far off that in order to acquire. I just think the team that does it will regret it sooner or later. It could well be this year that he falls off, and even with him the Bruins aren't going to be cup favourites right away so buying him for the short term doesn't make a ton of sense with the teams plans.
I also agree Lindholms value dropped from this time last year, but not by that much. Particularly after a strong playoffs, his number still begins with a 7. He's a more sensible target for this team than Marchessault, and you'll need some of that Marchessault money to get him. And then you'll need to fill the spot with a winger with a good value contract - that's where keeping Zacha comes in.
As to Coyle, I think he's better than Pageau at this stage and the money isn't that far off.</div></div>
I agree Coyle is better than Pageau, More of a cap move to fit the others in.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CW_73</b></div><div>A 5x8 contract to 33 year old Marchessault is going to backfire sooner rather than later. Bruins would need the money to pay Lindholm more than 6M anyway. I'd rather just not do that move and keep Zacha and Coyle</div></div>
Marchessault is going to be a competitive UFA to get, so you will have to give him some security., and yah last year or two may not work out, but he seems like someone who is just getting better every year. Lindholm's value is lower now, I think 6-7 is the max he gets. And you aren't winning any cups with our current forward group. Look at it this way.
You are "trading" Zacha, Coyle and Ullmark for JG Pageau, Jake Guentzel, Johnathan Marchessault, Elias Lindolm, a 1st, 2nd, and a 3rd. This team would have 4 goal scoring wingers, decent play making centers, and i've recovered all of our lost picks. Why wouldn't you do this?

Not many goalies on the market. And not easy to get rid of Taveres contract. Flames need a #1 centre. Treliving needs to threaten to sit Taveres if he won’t waive. Sit him or play him on 4th line.

Yeah you wouldn’t want to take the risk unless he promised to sign or Boston did a sign and trade.

No…. As a fan of the team I believe they are overachieving. The great culture and strong leadership is great but you need to solidify the weaker parts of your lineup to get a cup. I don’t think the regular season team will translate to playoff hokey. I predict a 2nd round exit. Hope I’m wrong though.

Doesn’t seem worth it for EDM to give up a 2nd for that swap if you ask me. :)</div></div>
Debrusk would be an unstoppable goal scorer with Draisaitl or MacDavid as his center. It would be a great move for Edmonton. Don’t judge him with Coyle as his center. Coyle is great. But doesn’t fit with Debrusk.

Given the time of the trade deadline the actually retention wouldn’t cost 1.5 million. So the retention doesn’t cost SJ anything important. And Gryz is a really good top 4 D that can help SJ not be completely embarrassing while they rebuild if they want.

Fill the voids
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Celtics21</b></div><div>I doubt the Flames get a better offer than that and I’d be irritated if Sweeney actually offered it, though I agree with the sentiment that there are better prospect fits for Calgary considering their current system depth.
I’d probably rate the prospects as Coronato, Lysell, and Pelletier based on what I’ve seen. That would not have been the order at the beginning of the season, but I love what Lysell is doing in Providence in terms of leveraging and working with his teammates. With his talent, that was the biggest deterrent to him making an impact and it’s starting to come. I’d hate to trade him where the biggest barrier to success looks like it is turining
How many Cap Friendly fans have the AHL or CHL packages? I love watching minor league hockey but I think I might not be the norm here based on a lot of commentary . Try to leverage business travel with catching a game at whatever level
On a side note, Lysell should be getting a call up and seeing if he can fill the top 9 void we have. He certainly has the talent, though I can see them trying to build him up some after last years regression in the second half of the season</div></div>
Gofornut999 says “No” to every trade people make.

You are forgetting that Calgary doesn’t have a ton of leverage here. Everyone knows that Hanafin is not going to re-sign. They could be stubborn and lose him for nothing. But I think if they get a 1st and a good prospect. They will take it. You wouldn’t get an offer of a 1st and 2 good prospects.
