Mikael Diotte | LD | 21 | 1 of 1 | A-
ML
| Sometimes it takes a prospect longer than some of his peers to develop into an NHL prospect. Diotte is a prime example. The right-shot defenceman was signed as an over-age free agent by the New Jersey Devils. He's best described as a '2-way D' who take a great deal of pride in defending his zone and keeping opponents off the score sheet. He was named the 'Defensive Defenceman' of the year in the QMJHL, after posting a tidy (+55) rating in the regular season. Diotte is a big body (6'3 205lbs) who's a capable skater with slightly above average puck skill, on projection, for the NHL game. His ability to close on opponents and take away time and space with this length is an asset. He also has no issues getting in the lane to block shots at even strength or the penalty-kill. Diotte will need some seasoning in the minors to begin his pro career, but he's a player who recognizes his strengths and limitations. His hockey sense and compete provide a solid baseline to develop from. | May 13, 2024 | May 20, 2024 | |
Jake Allen | G | 33 | 3 of 3 | 80
1B
| Allen is a 33 year old veteran goalie who's in the midst of an uneven year overall. He has one more year left on a contract that carries a cap hit of $3.85M Something to be noted : Allen's contract carries a 7 team 'no trade' clause this year - and a 3 team 'no trade next season' Allen's stats aren't stellar. He's clearly lost the net, in the future, in Montreal with Montembault and Primeau positioned to take the reins moving forward. Allen leans #1B / #2A at this stage of his career. In 21 games he has posted a 3.65 GAA and a .892 save percentage. | Feb. 21, 2024 | Mar. 8, 2024 | |

| A big body who takes up a ton of net when playing with poise and not wandering outside the posts. Hybrid / Butterfly style. Athletic. Agile. Above average gloves. Good push laterally. Plenty strong and quick enough to move side to side and use his size to his advantage to make desperation stops. Rebound control has ranged at times this season. When the play in front of him is organized, he tends to absorb pucks and find shots through traffic more effectively. Five game segment - from Jan 31st - February 27th - his game road the roller coaster that is the San Jose Sharks in 23/24 .... Faced 161 shots ... Plenty high danger ... Allowed 18 goals against ... save percentage in four games .912 / .974 / .902 / .912 - one poor outing = .774 and 7 goals against ... Pending UFA ... Cap hit $2.75M ... Better than a backup ... not quite a true #1A | Feb. 27, 2024 | Feb. 29, 2024 | |
Seamus Casey | RD | 20 | 3 of 3 | A-
P3
| Casey is logging a ton of minutes developing at the University of Michigan and showing positive growth overall. The New Jersey Devils drafted Casey in the 2nd round (46th) in 2022. Through 27GP (in 23/24) he had produced 5G-29A. He is used in all situations - but his primary ice time comes at even strength and PP#1 as the quarterback. His role on the penalty kill is a secondary / clean up role. Casey give up strength and weight in the hard areas but he's a solid defender who relies on his advanced hockey sense and jump to pucks - leading to zone exits. He's sees the ice very well - the kind of player who can escape pressure and survey more than one option before executing a tape to tape outlet. Best described as a 'Transitional / 2-way D'. Leans distributor more than shooter. Skates very well. Agile. Excellent edges. Coveted right shot. Potentially a third pairing at even strength in the NHL who can quarterback one of the power-play units. | Feb. 9, 2024 | Feb. 10, 2024 | |
Jake Allen | G | 33 | 2 of 3 | 83
1B
| The Canadiens are a rebuilding group who battle through some nights of inconsistent detail defensively. The result is the goaltenders being tasked with more than their share of high danger shots against. Allen's save percentage hovers around .900. His GAA is not sparkling ... but has to be put into context with how the group in front of him plays. Good size. Butterfly. Tracks pretty well from side to side. Has some issues, occasionally, when play works from low to high and pucks are directed on net through traffic. Better than average low net coverage. Sits tall in his butterfly. Excellent blocker hand. Veteran goalie under contract till end of 24/25. | Jan. 4, 2024 | Jan. 5, 2024 | |

| Depth defenceman who leans 7D more than bottom pairing regular Big, strong, physical, limited skill offensively. The kind of player who can be inserted in the lineup in an attempt to keep opponents on their toes. Low end of average skill and pace combination for the NHL game. | Individual stats don't jump off the page as positive from (22/23) - but come with the understanding the team in front of him is young and give up more Grade A chances than teams with more experience .Good size - butterfly - generally sound rebound control - lateral tracking (when play is in front of him) is sound - has some difficulty finding pucks below the goal line / tracking plays working low to high - Competes - no easy nights in the Montreal net as the team goes through rebuild - average plus glove hand - has an excellent blocker hand / quick to take away upper portion of the net - has struggled with injury for stretches - 42GP - 3.55 GAA - .891% in (22/23) - two more years left on current contract - $3.85M AAV | Sep. 29, 2023 | Oct. 4, 2023 | |

| Producing mid-range offense in Liiga (Finland) - Element leans offense Deployed at even strength and the power-play Not a burner. Average plus skater with good mitts / ability to score from range Protects pucks well - finds second chances around the crease - quick release - does not require much time or space Some bump to his game on occasion Pace has to go to another level for his element to win out in North America | Mar. 26, 2023 | Jun. 13, 2023 | |

| Finished his NCAA season (22/23) as the second leading scorer for defenceman in college hockey. Was the captain of Team USA at WJC in Halifax and Moncton. Element is clear. Transitional defenceman who has elite ability to escape pressure in his zone and launch the attack on his own or outlet and join as an extra layer. He mirrors his brothers with his skating. but he's bigger, stronger, and longer. There is absolutely no question he will impact the NHL game offensively. His defending detail ranges. He won't PK in the NHL. His read/react game and commitment NI for pro. Top pair - risk/reward is possible. | Apr. 6, 2023 | Apr. 8, 2023 | |

P1
| Leaning top pairing 'D' on projection Being used in all situations at the AHL level. Sound skater. Agile. High end hockey IQ. Read the play on and off the puck very well. Outlets pucks - then joins the rush as an extra layer. In the offensive zone he isn't shy about finding open space - sliding through the slot - pinching down to extend plays Defensively he's very aware of his responsibilities and shows willingness to bump opponents off the play and use an active stick on the penalty kill. Trustworthy in all situations. | Apr. 1, 2023 | Apr. 3, 2023 | |
Curtis Lazar | C | 28 | 1 of 1 | 52
L4
| Things didn't go to plan in Vancouver for the Canucks, or Lazar. The depth forward has had some injuries this season and struggled to post any offensive numbers. When he's at his best Lazar can match up against middle six opponents, penalty kill, and provide some physical push back. He had (124) hits and (49) shot blocks in Vancouver.. Lazar can play both the middle and the wing. He's signed through (24/25) and his cap hit is ($1M). This is a safe add for the New Jersey Devils. Lazar brings character, compete, and knows his role. | Feb. 25, 2023 | Mar. 3, 2023 | |

| Captain of Team Canada at WJC An elite skater who leans transitional 'D' on projection Risk/Reward type player who can dazzle at times but will also turn pucks over in high danger areas or lack detail. P2
| Off to a very good start to his college career Deployed in all situations. QB on the PP. He is used on the PK but it isn't an area of strength. Not likely to PK at the pro level. Read/React game is very strong. Pinches down to extend plays in the offensive zone. Good quickness out of the gate. Can lead the rush at times. Small area escapes is an an element. His vision / execution / impact offensively project to be a potential top 4 NHL 'D' in time. | Dec. 9, 2022 | Dec. 12, 2022 | |

| Learning the details of playing in North America Adapting to having less space to make plays. Picking his spots more often when going on offense and taking risk(s) with the puck. A very smart, right shot, defender who has the skill set to QB a PP at the NHL level. He leans distributor more than shooter. Plenty strong for his stature. Excellent skater. Potential remains to be a top pairing NHL defender in time. | Nov. 18, 2022 | Nov. 20, 2022 | |

| A big body / physical / no nonsense defender. A 'Defensive D' Simple with the puck. Chips pucks to space when challenged and out of options. Depth minutes. Shut down role. Can PK. Team player who is willing to drop the gloves. Has to be respected for his physical approach. Skating is average. | Mar. 3, 2022 | Jul. 12, 2022 | |

| A big body goalie who plays a hybrid / butterfly style. Determined. He battles to make second and third save without losing his net. Tracks very well and positions himself after pushing side to side to challenge shooters Agile. Good gloves. Rebound control is sound. Doesn't give up many second stops. Eats pucks. Soft body. Has been trending up for over two seasons Has potential to be a number one NHL goalie. | Jan. 30, 2022 | Jul. 12, 2022 | |
Daniil Orlov | LD | 18 | 1 of 1 | C+
P3
| An outstanding skater. He's explosive out of the gate and fast in open ice. Daniil has a fantastic glide. His pace is his primary element when projecting him at the NHL level. On the PP he distributes more than he shoots. When passing the puck his first option is usually what he takes. He doesn't have a lot of deception in his game. On the PK he uses his reach and quickness to get into shooting lanes. Daniil will block shots and sacrifice defensively. Overall his puck touch is average and holds him back from more consistent offense. | Mar. 3, 2022 | Jul. 4, 2022 | |
Tyler Brennan | G | 18 | 1 of 1 | D+
BU
| Brennan is a big body in the net. The kind of goalie who doesn't need to play at the top of the crease to take away net. When he squares up appropriately shooters have very little room to score. He gets into some trouble when opponents get him moving side to side. If he his outside his posts on his first save his quickness getting back into position becomes an issue. There isn't one area of his game that can be considered elite. He has size, decent gloves, average rebound control, and in and out focus at times. Needs time and coaching. | Feb. 2, 2022 | Jul. 3, 2022 | |
Josh Filmon | LW | 17 | 1 of 1 | D+
L4
| A 'raw' prospect who needs time to add weight and strength. His stride is not an issue. His agility is average plus. Off the rush he does have the ability to make plays and take pucks to the net. There are no issues with his compete. He works. His lack of strength is what holds him back from having more impact. A prospect who doesn't have one exceptional element. He is a work in progress. Used in all situations on a rebuilding Swift Current team in the WHL. | Feb. 2, 2022 | Jul. 3, 2022 | |
Simon Nemec | RD | 18 | 1 of 3 | B+
P1
| A coveted 'Right Shot' 'D' prospect who is a transitional defender that quarterbacks the power play. Sneaky strong. He has the strength and movement to angle opponents and finish his check along the boards. High end hockey 'IQ'. Head on a swivel. He identifies very well in all three zones. Pinches down to keep pucks alive in the offensive zone. Jumps to pucks in the defensive zone. His most attractive element is his vision and playmaking. More of a distributor than a shooter. Elite playmaker who slides into the rush as an extra layer. | Apr. 27, 2022 | Jul. 1, 2022 | |
Seamus Casey | RD | 18 | 1 of 3 | C+
P3
| A transitional 'D' who can QB a power play unit Good skater but not necessarily someone who will jump out of his zone and lead the rush consistently. Really good stick. Brings vision. More of a distributor than a shooter but not shy about directing pucks on net. Competes defensively but he's on the smaller / light side and relies on his sense to anticipate and jump to space to win pucks. Has potential to be a (5) at ES and contribute on (PP) as pro | Apr. 23, 2022 | May 3, 2022 | |
Charlie Leddy | RD | 18 | 1 of 1 | D+
RL
| Simple / Steady / Plays to his strengths / Low risk / Skates fine / Agile / Some physical at times He's not elite in any one category. He also doesn't have any significant weaknesses. A 2-way (D) who can eat up minutes at (ES) and on the (PK) Doesn't get too creative with the puck. Whatever is available in front of him is what he takes. This is a player who won't bring offense but will be a steady contributor to the team game. | Mar. 27, 2022 | Mar. 30, 2022 | |

T6
| AVG TOI (18:50) His ice time ranges from around 17:00 - 20:30 depending on special teams. Sound hockey IQ. Can be used in all situations. Producing at a rate of (0.76) ppg. Middle bumper / right flank on the PP. Sees the ice. On the PK he has good jump to pressure opponents / active stick / gets in the lane / will pressure pucks up ice disturbing the break out. Mostly reliable in all three zones at ES. Moves very well. Quick, above average in open ice , agile. He's a young NHL captain. Appears poised to go to another level with his offense. If available this is a nice young piece to add to core. Long term contract / signed till 26/27 | Mar. 8, 2022 | Mar. 11, 2022 | |
