Easy no for Winnipeg. An LHD with a bad long term contract doesn't fill a need.

Wouldn't keep Chychrun. Just done with him. On the fence about keeping Chabot (he's very good, but unreliable due to injury). If they move Chabot, move both and go after Zadorov imo. Get one of the big three defensive RD on the market, and maybe swing for Chatfield on the 3rd pair as well.

Sanderson-Zub
Zadorov-DeMelo/Tanev/Roy
Kleven-Chatfield

Sens could completely reshape what this blueline does this summer.

There will be a lot of more competitive teams willing to give Tanev more then that, if you want him to sign with the Sens you're probably gonna have to overpay.

No thanks! I wouldn’t be looking for a backup, a good starter, maybe if they came available.

dam man, great write up, would love this D core, tho the D they should get is Montour or Pesce, Tanev is too old, DeMelo is either staying in WPG or signing elsewhere, dont see him come back to the team that traded him

Just a frustrating player. Was playing arguably the best hockey of his career under dj to start the year, with something like 21 pts in 25 games, but when Martin came on board and tried to get them to commit defensively he really felt out of place. Granted he spent WAY too long playing with JBD or Hamonic, but he's ultimately the one responsible for his own play, and it was nowhere near his own standard. Then, after such an up and down season from him, to hear him be so flippant and noncommittal about his future in Ottawa, he didn't exactly leave a good taste in fans mouths. Hard for the fanbase to look at that and have any appetite for his return given the DeBrincat sh*t last summer.

Ultimately, that blueline is very far from good enough, and change has to happen somewhere. They've got a great 1st pair, and basically 5 question marks. There's honestly a pretty strong argument for turning over everything on that blueline but Sanderson and Zub. Chabot's a really good hockey player, but can you rely on him if he's gonna miss 15-30 games a season? Chychrun looked DOMINANT at times this season, but he lacked consistency over the full season, and is the easiest starting point for the changes they need to make. Brannstrom is a great 3rd pair guy, but is gonna get punted because he's small. Is Kleven ready? Basically anyone else who played this year is ass and needs to not be back. You can make a very strong argument that you keep the top pair and nothing else (not including Kleven obv).
