A LOT I don't agree with here. Michkov behind Lindstrom and Levshunov is pretty wild.

In general I feel like you're integrating both drafts too much. 2023 is an absurdly good draft and this year really isn't.

Celebrini probably falls after Carlsson and Fantilli (maybe Michkov too). Would be same tier as Will Smith. Demidov goes below Michkov, would be in same tier as Benson.

Bedard

Fantilli
Carlsson
Michkov

Celebrini
Smith

Leonard
Dvorsky

Demidov
Benson
Catton

2023 was much stronger draft. 2024 is one of the weaker and thinner pools.

Yeah, strongly disagree.

1st off: Celebrini is most definitely in the tier with Fants and Leo.
Celebrini basically has the offense of Fantilli and the defense of Carlsson. The only thing is he is missing 2 inches, but that really doesn’t matter too much

2nd: Demidov is easily along Michkov, and imo, the talent gap is so tiny, that taking in the character and KHL contract length, I easily take Demidov

Dvorsky shouldn’t be near those names, definitely under guys like Lindstrom and Iginla

Its honestly weird people find this draft weak. Looking at each players individual, it is a hell of a draft, with the most top line ceilings I’ve since, even more than 2023

I understand some of the top line ceiling guys from this year don’t necessarily have the floor of the 2023 guys, but its not the case for everyone, a lot still have great floors and ceilings

At NCAA level, Fantilli hit levels that we didn’t see much of from Celebrini, where he would take over games. I probably watched 12-15 games for both of them. Celebrini was better on power play. I am no draft expert, but I know college hockey pretty well. Where they go in pros, time will tell.

I think over time we will have a good idea on the top guys. It’s my belief that the top group of guys from 2023 goes a good 30-35 guys deep whereas 2024 only appears about 12-15 guys before drop off. 2023 was really deep.

Among dmen, I think the two drafts are very comparable. But last years crop of forwards was particularly strong.

Time will tell. I don’t think I am, I genuinely prefer the 5 to 16 range in 2024 more than in 2023

Imo, 2023 has a better top 4 then 2024, but overall, the 2024 is better in the 5 to 16 range. The 2023 may be better for the end of the 1st round, but way less than may say.

If we wanna compare the 5 to 16 range, assuming 1 to 4 this year is Celebrini, Demidov, Lev, Lindstrom

Iginla > Reinbacher
Silayev = Simashev
Parekh < Michkov
Dickinson > Leonard
Buium > Danielson
Catton = Dvorsky
Yakemchuk < Willander
Sennecke = But
Helenius < Benson
Eiserman > Yager
MBN > Wood
Jiricek > Honzek

And the D class this year is much better, with Reinbacher and Simashev being 3 to 6 in this years class

I mean it might be just me as Flyers fan, but Demidov has played 4 games in KHL this year with 0+0, Michkov in his draft year played 30 games in KHL scoring 9+11=20, and that team he played for wasn't a great one, with those 20 points he was actually 4th on their team scoring and his 0,67ppg is the highest draft eligible player has ever scored in KHL. Yes, KHL ain't as strong anymore due to Russia attacking Ukraine and pretty much all european players leaving the league, but just to get comparable, Ovechkin scored 24 points in 53 games in a bad team (he was 3rd in their team scoring) when the league was in similar state as it is now, not much of foreign players. Michkov also had 12 games in VHL with 10+4=14. And right now it seems that the contract situation with Michkov is more clear than with Demidov. I'd personally have Michkov at least in same group with Celebrini and Fantilli, more likely even in his own "group" between Bedard and them.

So yeah, I'd pick Michkov 100/100 if i get to choose. But only time will tell how these young fellas do in NHL.
