Where's Anderson's Vezina? Imagine if Sway- Ullmark was Koch- Ullmark with that forward group and D corps in front of them. Also you have 8 starters as UFAs, you're lucky if you resign 3 of them.

What are you expecting from an Ehlers deal? Roster player, strong prospect, and a pick is pretty solid for any player like him dealt in the offseason. I'm sure he gets more at the TDL but they're not waiting that long if a good deal falls in their lap

I want Heinen on this team, but let's just say we give Necas 6.5mil, how long does he sign for? 8 years it's a deal, but I see him taking a bridge.
Rumblings are that he wants back at C because thats what he played at his whole life, and at a C starved team like the Bs, he'd get his shot.

Bruins retool
Realistic across the board. I do think that getting Coyle back down onto the 3rd line is going to do wonders for our depth scoring. That 2nd line is going to get bullied though, too small, and looking at what other teams are throwing out there, I'm not sure it'll survive playoff hockey. Geekie on the 4th line is a waste so I see them moving him before letting him languish down there. Brazeau's gotta find a way in that lineup, and Joshua may get more but you've left plenty of cap.
Overall: it's a better team, but not better enough.

Lots here. Barbanov is going to Russia allegedly. Love a Lafferty signing if we push Freddy or Geekie to the top 6. Boyd fits in the vein of guys Sweeney likes to sign based off this past season, but he may be redundant. I see Zadorov turning into a bad contract but I just can't shake how well he'd play with Carlo... Reilly Walsh walks for somewhere he can start.

Ahh that would make Chychrun at $8 mil by 6.5 years. But that probably gets Ullmark but he's going to want a full NMC on top of it

WPG probably doesn't want a prospect (good one, not great) and a winger only a year younger for Ehlers AND a pick. They want assets that make them better, not worse.
Ullmark doesn't sign an extension for LESS than he signed before he won the Vezina. Trade is fine though, but only if Boston acquires some other picks before this trade.

Not even close for Carlo. A late first is not worth making the team that much worse.

Bruins Heise
Poitras slots in at 3C in every possibly offseason scenario, there's no point in adding any bottom 6 forwards to this mix where Poitras, Geekie, Frederic, Brazeau, Beecher, and Boqvist are all locks. One or two of those guys may move into the top 6, but regardless, no need to add anything but veteran depth as 13th F.
That's as acceptable a package for Ullmark as we're likely to get.
Dillon could play well with any of our RD but if we're signing him to exclusively play with Peeke, that seems like an overpay when Wotherspoon has proved his worth as a player and a locker room presence. Lohrei has forced the Bs into a corner by effectively replicating the success of McAvoy in his first playoff run in that they have to play him as a regular next season, and brining in an established guy may stunt his growth. I think they go for a veteran depth guy over a guy like Dillon who can be a top 4 guy still.

How would you make a Mitch Marner Juuse Saros swap more fair
I believe goalies are undervalued in the trade market. Unfortunately the league doesn't agree with me. The biggest package for a goalie in the last 15 years was Darcy Kuemper which netted (lol) the 32nd overall pick, a D prospect who was a 2nd round pick and close to cracking the league, and a conditional 3rd. The biggest asset ever moved in this time period was the Cory Schneider trade that garnered the 9th overall pick. Looking at those, Kuemper was older and slightly worse stat- wise than Saros is now. Schneider was a year younger at the time of his trade than Saros is now and comparable stat-wise (and situation-wise, as Schneider took over in net for Brodeur just as Saros did for Rinne).
Put all this together: Marner for Saros is an overpay for the Leafs but desperation can play a factor. Both Schneider and Keumper were moved to keep competitive teams from falling off after another great goaltender fell off/ retired (Luongo and Holtby respectively) whereas the Leafs haven't sniffed a G that good in this run. That may convince the Leafs that all they're missing is a true #1 and they can compete.
In reality, the Leafs give up Marner and a mid round pick, they should net Saros, this year's 1st, Cody Glass, a B+ prospect, and potentially take 2-3 million of salary of Marner's cap and get the deal done. Both guys have extensions in place, and both fanbases think they were ripped off. Hilarity ensues, the Leafs make the ECF before being victims of a gentleman's sweep and the Preds miss the playoffs but bounce back the next season.

The team in the end isn't bad, but it's definitely not better. The issue with Pasta is he needs another playmaker with him to be his best self (evidence: set a new PR in assists this year because it forced him to make plays instead of potting 60+ goals) and Marner on the other line doesn't help that.
Also: DeBrusk walks, someone will pay him more for longer. Swayman at 8.8 is insane, and spending almost 12 mil on goalies is worse. I love Swayman, but then only Vasi and Bob make more... the former is a proven champion, the latter is overpaid.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NHLfan10506</b></div><div>Mercer+ should open the Swayman door.
(All depends on extensions I suppose)</div></div>
Swayman is untouchable now. Not just because of his play, but because of how much coaching and management has chosen to trust him. Mercer would be a starting point, either Nemec or Luke Hughes would be involved, and a high pick would be within reason.

Bruins Sign Two from Vancouver

Right around 100 points in the standings and then a first round exit unless they pull the Leafs again? I think they need to add scoring and playmakers not just more grinders and bruisers if anything is going to change come the post season.</div></div>
This is where the lack of high end offensive prospects becomes clear. Freddy, Geekie, DeBrusk, Heinen (who I think we should resign) are all suited to the middle six at best. Coyle and Zacha are middle 6 on any other team, and no one in the prospect pool other than Poitras and maybe Lysell could crack the top 6. The Bs need to pay a premium for skill guys if they want to compete for more than the first round exit because no one is going to show up and be that fix. No Wyatt Johnston, Luke Evangalista type guys who just pop into your lineup.
Spend big on a guy who can play the L side with Pasta if there isn't a playmaking center.

Thank you. Get Maroon out of the lineup and stop putting him with Pastrnak! Only thing is, put Freddy, JVR, and Geekie back together, they had good chemistry in round 1, plus Brazeau has been one of the only consistent players in the whole lineup.

Big Spending on Forwards
In general, I think this is the approach the Bs take. They need skill guys, not just to take pressure of Pasta, but to lift him up. The issue is: I don't think E. Lindholm is that guy. He isn't a lights out skill guy but he is a natural center, which they need.
Also, I think Frost between Pasta and Zacha would be excellent. Then put Lindholm on the 2nd line with DeBrusk, Marchand, Coyle or some combination theirin for a shutdown 2 way line that can match up with the top offensive line.

Josi>McAvoy but that won't last long. Hughes has taken a step forward but I still think McAvoy is more well rounded. McAvoy holds at #5. Heiskenan and Dahlin just don't have the same impact on the game. Hedman lost a step.

Make the team older: good plan. Geekie is such a great deal and player, there's zero reason to trade him. I would honestly rather trade Freddy than him. Don't need Stolarz, he and Bussi would play the exact same role. Marchessault is great but too old and likely gets more. Lindholm scares me, but I'm guessing we'll wind up with him, I'm just hoping it's only 4 years. Also a full season of Maroon does not excite me.

Boston Deals Ullmark and Merk in the offseason
I love going after Vegas for a D man but I think Lohrei and Wotherspoon have both played themselves into being everyday players next year. We need depth, but there will be depth defensemen we can get for less than that. I'm also a huge Brunet fan and think he can replace Peeke as a shutdown D in a few years.
