Work a deal around Carlo.</div></div>
Now if I've learned anything today, it's that suggesting trading Carlo for a forward will get you egged by people here. Nah, hockey trades don't pop up as often as people would like. I admit WPG probably wants to be blown out of the water with an offer, but I think a trade will yield less than people think.
Carlo for Ehlers straight up would be the only trade that makes sense if that's what you want.

And unfortunately you traded the center we would have wanted to Vegas, so Bruins pass on Couture. Would have liked him 5 years ago

Swayman will make closer to 10 mil than 5. And the fewer former Leafs on our team, the better we'll be.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Windjammer</b></div><div>Not close for Ehlers.</div></div>
Going rate for a guy like Ehlers is a roster player and a mid round pick (see Toffoli for Sherangovic and a 3rd last offseason). A top prospect (granted, in a terrible Bruins system) and a 1st is more than enough.
I would love to trade for Ehlers if the price is right, and that means not moving a 1st round pick, even if we do recoup one via trade elsewhere. We probably get outbid for that reason.

Love the entitlement from a team that sold out for Karlsson only to have one of the biggest flopjobs in years. My last ACGM I had Geekie as our 1C, that better? 🤣

First post from you, welcome aboard: this would be incredibly disappointing. Sprong does nothing to help the team. Love Brazeau but he's not quite at 2RW yet, switch him and Geekie. Shatt is not the depth D we need or want. Could this be it? Sure, but this team would fare no better next year, even with Lindholm.

Carolina wouldn't match it, but there's a reason. He's not even proven enough to pay him that as a winger, let alone to give 1C money. He'll be Josh Norris 2.0.

The only pieces of value are Ullmark and the 1st. DiPietro doesn't do anything for them, it's not like he's a blue chip prospect, he's just a nice AHL goalie. The 2nd doesn't add much value and Lysell doesn't move the dial. Unlike the Bs, the Sens do have good prospects.

DeMelo is at best 85% of Carlo in both play and size, AND 4 years older, and you're signing him for more money to fill that spot. And I love Dylan DeMelo - but he's a poor man's Brandon Carlo that's going to cost more than the real deal.</div></div>
So upgrade Carlo? Or find a partner for McAvoy? The only true #1s I could see being an improvement on the PK aren't achievable targets. We could go after Esa Liddell in Dallas?

We can sign someone like Schmaltz so no need to dump Carlo</div></div>
Schmaltz is a steal. To get a perennial 25+ goal scorer is easily 6.5million and up in free agency. DeBrusk would command more cap than Schmaltz to retain him. The only real comp is Terevainen in this FA class and I'd rather Schmaltz than him any day of the week. But you're right that it would suck to move Carlo, but even without him we would have a fantastic D corps, and the offense needs the bump most.

Ehlers for Chych would be interesting, but not sure that's what WPG wants out of moving Ehlers.
No interest in Forsberg for Boston, he's just a more expensive backup than we need. Geekie is off the table unless it's an upgrade at his position, we have too many 3rd liners already.

Take out Husso, you'll have to dump him somewhere other than Boston, and up the picks to 2 seconds. I also think Boston would be interested in Veleno if he's available.

Lindholm>Matheson. Ullmark won't go to Edmonton most likely but if that's the best deal we're offered, fine. Would rather have McAvoy than Tkachuk only because Brady Can't. Play. Center. Way too much to give up for Laine, there's no guarantee he'll ever come back and play like his old self. Also, not sure players actively in the NHL players assistance program can be traded, I thought they were in limbo...

Young Scoring Line
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DFence</b></div><div>Well the Bruins also need scoring. I don't think putting Frederic and Geekie on Poitras' line is ideal either.
I think Lysell gets a chance this year to give the team another forward on an ELC but I don't know where he fits in the lineup. He is not a fourth liner. Pastrnak is RW1. That leaves RW with either Coyle or Poitras. Coyle is a good two way forward but is not much of a playmaker.</div></div>
I think the overall goal is to get Poitras into the top 6, but I don't think he has the ceiling to jump right in with Pasta. A 3rd line of Freddy- Coyle- Geekie would be big and with a decent balance of scoring and two way play. Sign a 1C to play between Pasta and Zacha, pair Marchy with Poitras and sign a scoring winger. Then when they want to play Lysell, move Pasta down to give Poitras some time with him and let Lysell prove himself on the top line. The issue with the Bs is scoring talent, so they'll slot in wherever they can once they're on the team.

Bruins 24-25 offseason
Brown can be buried in Providence, no need to give up a pick to move him. Not nearly enough to get Necas and he probably signs for more. Scary contract for Lindholm, can't see them paying him 8 million from ages 33-37. Maybe a 4 year deal and even then, too much money.

Young Scoring Line
A line with an average size of 5'11, 180lbs... that's the exact opposite of what we need. Poitras should be with guys who can create their own space and take shots.
