Selected in the second round (42nd) in 2018. Has proven he can contribute offensively at the college level (Harvard), in the SHL (Vaxjo), and the AHL (Chicago Wolves), but offense has been slower to arrive at the NHL level.
Moves well. Can push the play in transition / gain the edge on zone entries. It's easy to see he has better than average puck touch and vision in the offensive zone. Unfortunately for him, the Hurricanes are a deep team and he is mostly being used in a depth role. Having said that, he has been deployed more on the PP in recent games - including 4:16 versus Colorado on October 21st.
Overall, he is averaging 10:46 TOI - 8:57 ES - 0:59 PP - 0:49 PK - through the first seven games of (23/24).
Competes. Has good puck touch. Can play fast. Has the hockey sense to be used in a variety of roles. Needs to improve in the face-off circle (46%).
