Devils pass.

If we're going to give out a 5-Year/$5.5M deal, I'd rather go after Zadorov in free agency than have to send away pieces in a trade.

Kevin Bahl is also a great piece for the Devils: cheap NHL talent who still has more room to develop (aka: learn to use his body more). Helps secure funds for other moves.

Also, not a fan of trading the 10OA for any goalie not named Juuse Saros.

In terms of historical comps it’s probably an overpay but Pettersson is just such a perfect fit in my mind especially on that deal. (Which technically couldn’t be negotiated until after the draft but if that’s the ballpark Pettersson wants+some slight tampering)

this honestly isn't bad.
I would probably take this as well.
But at that point I'm also admitting I'm tanking. Not sure the pens are ready to do that. Especially if Crosby isn't resigned yet.
If you take out the retention at least I got more cap to go find a replacement in FA.
I think it's more likely a trade can occur after Crosby resigns. Which will probably be after the draft.
Hence problematic.
