Calgary wins, Okhotiuk still has some upside and is a serviceable 3rd pair D, that 5th likely won't

I'm curious about all those young players CGY are shopping. Interesting how Conroy is rebuilding, trusting 100% his scouting team without waiting through a long process through the draft.

Okhotiuk still has some upside left as an aging prospect, despite having a rough season for the Sharks.

And the Sharks recover a 2024 5th, which was something they lost in the Timo Meier trade.

I call it fair for both teams.

I really wanted him to work out but he's been far away the worst Shark blue liner all year. Good physicality and decent skating but man, awful decisions left and right. With a logjam at LD I'm more than ok with it

Calgary wins, assuming they resign him this summer. They get a player who can play in the NHL for a draft pick that will very likely never sign an ECL.

Okhotiuk hasn't proven to be more than a 3rd pairing Dman at best so to get a 5th for him is fair. Maybe Calgary will know how to use him a bit better. Fair deal.

Great Trade for CGY. I’d much rather acquire another Big Physical Russian RFA we know than have a low probability 5th Round Pick that may never turn in to anything and will take years to find out
