Personally wouldn’t do it. IMO, it’s not worth giving Roy to upgrade Iggy to Lindstrom. But thoughts from both sides?

Me too. Roy is probably got 2nd line potential. Not worth giving that type of guy to move up 1 pick

I think it’s becoming quite clear Silayev will be Columbus’ pick. Demidov or Lindstrom will still be available at 5

Really? Haven’t really looked into CLB, but thought Lindstrom was a lock for them

Apparently, they are looking for a D partner for Jiricek and they love Silayev

Not true at all. CBJ are probably the biggest enigma of the draft. They really don’t have one particular need above another. They also could move the pick for immediate help and have cap space to facilitate a trade. While I wouldn’t rule out Silayev, the Jackets already have Werenski and Provorov with Svozil and Mateychuk on the way. I could see the Jackets possibly going with Iginla even as high as 4.

They don’t have a need, but someone said (I don’t remember the name of the insider, but he was known in Columbus) that Columbus really wanted Silayev to play with Jiricek. I think the only player that might change their minds is Demidov

Not sure why you're trying to say it isn't true at all. There are plenty of reports about Silayev being high on the Jackets' list. By the time he's truly NHL ready there's no saying what their defensive group will look like and Provorov will almost certainly be gone if not potentially Werenski too.

Again that would mean moving one of Z, Mateychuk, or even Svozil. But I wouldn’t read too much into what media outlets are saying. CBJ don’t even have their GM yet. What is true now may not be when they hire a new head guy.

We don’t even have our GM yet. We can’t even possibly know what guy we are picking in the draft. To even think we do is foolish.

The GM may not even be involved in the draft if he's coming from another org. The draft will be heavily influenced if not fully decided by the scouting staff. We're not talking about trades and contracts here.

Exactly! Only reason I see Mtl moving up is because they really want Demidov.
If they're good with Linstrom or Iggy, stay at 5!

I can tell you the new GM will certainly have the final say on the 4OA pick. He will rely on the current scouting staff for scouting reports but the decisions will come from the new GM.

Unless his hiring is contingent on him recusing himself from the draft, like Treliving with the Leafs last summer. It's pretty common for new GMs hired out of other orgs not to do much for the draft the same summer they're hired.

Could you imagine if we hired Holland and he didn’t have a say in who we drafted at 4OA? Not likely. If it is an experienced GM they will likely want to have a say on that pick.

You're not getting that the new GM can literally be blocked from participating by his previous team as a requirement for allowing him to be hired. It's not a debate, it's an a or b thing based on what the previous team mandates.

Exactly. It’s essentially a non-compete, and when the industry only involves 32 maximum jobs who all have to work together, honoring things like that is critically important.

If it’s Hunter or someone else currently outside the NHL, then sure, no restrictions. But if it’s Tulsky or Holland or Bergevin or someone we haven’t publicly even heard mention of, I’d be surprised if the Hurricanes, Oilers, or Kings didn’t request that courtesy in exchange for letting their employee go.

1- Celebrini (SJ)
2- Demidov ( He’s 6’1 Per Reports )
3- Levshunov (ANA)
4- Silayev (CBJ)
5- Lindstrom (MTL)

Everyone is happy
