Lindgren's only had one decent season in his career. Miro is a future 2nd liner but nowhere near as valuable as Marner, Miro may have once had the potential that Marner had but his development got set too far back by his lymphoma (obviously not his fault and not a knock on him, just realistic). Sure, Strome is good, but nowhere near Marner. I'd rather give up McMichael than give up Miro but Miro's worth a mid-round 1st, Strome is worth a mid-1st, and Lindgren is worth a second round pick at most. That's two firsts and two seconds and a third for one of the best playmakers in the league to help Ovi catch Gretzky. If you compare it to the Eichel trade, where Tuch at the time was probably comparable to a late first, Krebs had more value back then and was probably worth a mid 1st like Miro, they added in another first, and added a second for Eichel, who comparatively isn't as good as Marner and has had more injury history. This trade doesn't suck at all for the Caps (again, assuming Marner signs a long-term extension). With Marner on the team, McMichael and Lappy getting better, and our D core improving (just by our prospects getting more experienced), I'd certainly think we'd make the playoffs again in the metro, since the Canes are most likely in decline, the Isles are most likely in decline, the Pens are most likely in decline, and the Devils are depending on Sheldon Keefe to "keep their players accountable". Hell, if we can replace Lindgren over the offseason (maybe by trading #17), we might even get second in the division, or win a round or two. We have the cabinet stocked so trading a couple of futures for Marner on a long-term deal while he's still in his prime won't set us back at all. I'm a Caps fan before I'm a Leafs fan, and certainly more biased towards the Caps, but if any part of me doesn't like this deal, it's on Toronto's end.

EDIT: oh, and I didn't even note that Liljegren was in the deal and he's worth an early second. The "fan card revocation" and "you're getting blocked" are more than a little excessive.</div></div>

I’m sorry dude but there is no world where Liljegren and Marner are worth this package. It’s not close.

I never mentioned the idea of Marner for Leonard. Not once. I simply said that Leonard is NOT worth “twice the amount” as you stated. He’s a prospect - not all of them work out. You’re WAY overvaluing a prospect that’s never played in the league. The jump from college to the NHL is a huge step, nothing guarantees that he’ll be anywhere near the type of production player as Marner is. It’s also been made well known that any team acquiring Marner would be a team he’d be willing to extend with, thus taking out your “one year rental” argument.

Take off your bias glasses and learn something about hockey.</div></div>

I guess you failed to learn to read too, because I said "you or any Leafs fan." Sorry it's so hard for you to use your eyes. I'm using my reading comprehension skills of making an inference (look that word up, it's a big one) that since you're arguing in favor of the guy who said Leonard for Marner, you must also agree with him. Maybe you don't, but maybe you should make it clear, kiddo.

I don't care if Marner is willing to agree to an extension. The fact is he has one year left on his contract. The leafs will get something for Marner, but you're not getting a top prospect. You can think he's being overvalued all day long, but the fact is he has that value because of what he's accomplished at the NCAA level compared to what other stars past and present have accomplished at that same level. You're delusional, and also clearly you've got your feelings hurt over this. Sorry your ego is this fragile, woof.
