I voted Sennecke mostly because he values the four things Kent looks for in prospects: hockey sense, character, compete, and size. Iginla would be my second option.
Dark horse option: Teddy Stiga

Reasonable rankings.
The only adjustment I would make is swapping Rudolph and Berchild with Bjorck and Belchetz.

Love the Spence respect, finally someone who has him in the top 3. Also like that Andreyanov is higher than D'Aigle.
Though I would have McQueen, Frondell, and Ryabkin ahead of Tretheway, Martone, and Gavin.
Also Moore and Benak should be borderline top 10. Boumedienne should be borderline top 5 given his rare combo of size and speed.

Catton would be a great grab for the Red Wings. If not available, then the pick in this case would be MBN. If Greentree is available then he would be the no brainer pick.

Yeah Silayev to the Sabres is a steal. I could even see Utah or the Kraken take him.
I actually do see the Caps trade up because their prospect pool isn't deep at all but MBN is another good option. Luchanko is a reach yes, but not gonna lie, I wanted to add a few surprise picks. I also like Eiserman to the Caps. But I didn't do trades in this mock, but will do a couple more with trades.

2024 Mock Draft with Surprises and Analysis
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mokumboi</b></div><div>A couple thoughts on #2: Where did you get the idea that the Hawks stay away from Russians? I've never heard this before, and history shows that is definitely not true. Also, Levshunov is Belarusian, which is certainly no less problematic than being Russian. It's just Russian with twist.
I also find it extremely hard to believe Ottawa and especially Buffalo draft LDs.</div></div>
It might be a different team that avoids Russians then. I thought it was Chicago. Also I keep forgetting that Lev is from Belarus, but he has played in US for 2 years. And Chicago is reportedly high on him.
Ottawa can go a bunch of different ways, but Silayev is a LD yes, but he is currently playing on the right side in the KHL this season. And Buffalo is known for converting players like Dahlin and Power to their offside.
I am thinking of doing another mock, these picks are more so what I think the GM will do as opposed to what I want to happen.

Also I'm not a Blackhawks fan, I'm a Jets fan, but no way the Blackhawks draft 3 RD.
At 3rd the Blackhawks should draft Lindstrom, Jiricek at 20th is good, but 100% Connelly if he's somehow available at 34th.

Guessing Montreal's List Based on the TSN Article
The three people that Montreal is currently high on are:
Demidov
Lindstrom
Iginla
Normally Montreal values hockey sense, compete, and character in their prospects. The three that make the most sense are Iginla, Sennecke, and Stiga. Yes Montreal has been drafting bigger prospects, but those 3 things are what Hughes and company value the most.
Lindstrom doesn't make a lot of sense for the Canadiens given his compete level in the playoffs, I didn't like the way he played. Demidov is from Russia and he would 100% be the pick if he's available. Montreal would have to win the lottery in order to get him. Iginla checks all the boxes: goal-scorer, physical player, but also has the hockey sense, character (Jarome's son), and compete (had a solid U18 and was the driving force for Kelowna).
But the question is, how do you know that certain players have met with Montreal?

Stiga is way too low. I have ranked #8 on my board, defensive game and skating alone he's solid. The lowest I see him going is 14th.
Also, why Greentree out of the first round?

Sharks would be cheering. I was hoping though Yakemchuk would fall to them, but Parekh isn't a bad option either. The other option would be draft a winger with the 14th pick then just hope for the team to be bad enough in order to land Hensler.

Thank you. Catton and Lindstrom are also good options. Emery I did consider, but I think Mews fits the system better.
