Sea - Ott Blockbuster at the draft
Crypes I would be tempted if I was Ottawa.
Chabot takes them out of that contract which isn't really working out for them, get a high pick that's getting a good talented player, and your team probably gets better, at least the regular season version of it (I think Tkachuk is going to be a playoff player).
Ultimately, they'd probably say no to this because they're going to look at all possible "anyone but Brady" options, but it's tempting.

Carolina gets Markstrom
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PenguinMullet68</b></div><div>Why would the Flames want Andersen?
Canes could get a pick for trading him to LA or Colorado</div></div>
It's not that they want Andersen it's that he only has 1 year left on his contract at an AAV Calgary can easily absorb next year.
If the Canes can move Andersen elsewhere that's fine with Calgary.
Edit: Mind you it might not be a bad idea for Calgary to run with 3 goalies to start the season. Andersen could be useful insurance in case Vladar doesn't rebound as expected or isn't ready for start of the season after getting off season hip surgery.

The contract in my eyes is just too big a gap.
If you value both players equally at 16 mill, that’s 48 mill for Jack and about 36 mill surplus value for pettersson. And it may be because of bias, but I value Jack higher than Pettersson from an on ice perspective so the gap grows in my eyes
And I’d say Demko makes up that gap with 2 years of him

Perhaps the Hurricanes would offer one of Honka or Heimosalmi then in place of Morrow. If Morrow is the key piece for Vancouver, then he's a key piece for Carolina. Nikishin, I've read, is one of the best prospects any team has, period, but is a left shot, out of the current discussion for me, which revolves around righties.

Van - Car The Canes take another crack at Petey
Canes aren’t moving Jarvis, and Morrow likely isn’t going anywhere either. The rumored package at the deadline was Necas, KK, a 1st for EP40. Hronek had a career year being propped up by Hughes. I doubt many teams are wanting to give him the 7mil he wants after 1 year.

Utah - St Louis Utah needs some veteran defenseman
This is not it. I believe there will be discussions between the GM's who have worked together in the past. Utah has assets and want to be more competitive, St. Louis wants cap flexibility and an open top 4 dman spot. More likely Faulk is a better candidate for his versatility and leadership capabilities but would also need to be asked to waive his NTC.

I’d love to trade for him but that’s wild</div></div>
It may be off, but I actually don’t think it’s crazy far off. Vaak got benched last night for the likes of Lindstrom and Lageson
Vatrano is an expiring UFA (~mid-late first value)
EDM pick likely to be pretty late
Then the high value top 5 pick
Brady’s a stud, and would be adored by Verbeek. I think the 2 issues are:
(1) We’re flush with LWs so someone else would need to go that isn’t included here. It’s not going to be Gauthier, which leaves Zegras who I see zero reason to trade. He’s been awesome since returning
(2) With 4 years left, he’ll be an approaching UFA right when we’ll be in our compete window
Love Brady, and if OTT valued Z highly for there to be a swap there that made sense, maybe. But otherwise I think ANA’s focus should be on RW and RD

Norris has two seasons of less than 10 games played, 2 seasons in the 50's and one in the 60's. Hall and Dvorak have definitely had their injury woes, but not quite that bad. Though they have had longer careers so more runway. Murray is different, his career is probably done if this conditioning assignment does go well

It’s incredibly clear that you don’t watch ANA by that comment. I don’t blame you one bit for that, we’re awful. But I’m not sure you should to pretend like you know the player if you don’t actually watch him
To the trade from ANA pov, that’s pretty solid value. He’s not available though, fits ANA’s window perfectly, and brings creativity and offense that’s desperately needed, so I still don’t think they’d take it

Mtl - Van the draft
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GuyGuyGuy</b></div><div>Milheyev is a useful fourth liner making 5m. That’s a cap dump. Anderson is a fourth liner making 5,5m. You have to take into account the retention, wich is very valuable these days.
Dach did that in 30 less games than Suter. He is clearly a second liner</div></div>
Mikheyev is a 3rd liner who can play in the top 6 if necessary. At worst he’s a good bottom 6 player who provides good defense and PK ability. He’s also in his first year post ACL surgery which has played a part into his struggles this season
Anderson is a 4th liner who is also awful defensively. Even with the retention down to 4.675M he’d have significant negative value
Until Dach can stay healthy and produce at a 2nd line level I wouldn’t call him a locked in 2C. And coming back from a major knee injury like his is tough. His trade value right now is at an all time low
Overall in this deal the Canucks lose cap space, get significantly worse on the wing, and lose a valuable cheap middle 6 player just so they can take a risk on a guy who has a high ceiling but low floor with his injury history. It doesn’t make sense from our perspective

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mv21227</b></div><div>Mikheyev >>> Anderson even with the retention
Realistically neither team does this. Montreal shouldn’t sell low on Dach and the Canucks shouldn’t take on Anderson’s contract with the only incentive being a guy who can’t stay healthy while also losing a cost effective middle 6 guy</div></div>
No, Mikheyev without retention is a cap dump. He cost at least a second to dump. Anderson with 15% retention cost like a second to dump too.
And in no world is Vancouver declining this. Losing a replaceable 3c for a cost controlled 2c

Ari - Car at the draft
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PenguinMullet68</b></div><div>Draft picks, cap space and a better goalie then who they currently have</div></div>
Vejmelka has only had a better season than Raanta, which of the Canes 4 NHL level goalies this season, that would rank Vejmelka behind Kochetkov, Andersen, and Martin. Please tell me, in what way is Vejmelka better than either of Andersen or Kochetkov?
O’Brien is nothing more than a 4th line goon. Canes already have Lemiuex as their physical 4th liner. Jenik is an AHLer, which would not hurt to bring in assuming that the Canes are getting their AHL affiliation back in the offseason, but he doesn’t have any value at the NHL level. It’s just not worth it.
Besides, if the Canes truly needed cap space, and under the assumption that they don’t have confidence in KK, a buyout saves them a lot more cap space, rather than taking back about 600k less cap in this scenario.
