Habs future part 3
Dubas has already informed Rust that they won’t be asking him to waive his NMC. Even if they did ask him to, I highly doubt he would do so for a trade to MTL.

Danault is not leaving LA until that contract ends, and we hope to keep him past that. He is the main reason we are ok with Kopitar retiring in 2 years.

Early Look at Next Season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>villenash</b></div><div>What I’d look into:
- trade market for a Karlsson trade
- trade market for Hill
- trade one of Hague/McNabb/Whitecloud
- if Theodore won’t re-sign this summer, do you consider a trade?
- re-sign Marchessault
- let Carrier walk
- re-sign Amadio if possible</div></div>
Seems very risky to trade a top 6 forward like Karlsson considering Stone, Hertl, and Eichel are all perpetually injured. I think Theodore trade would make the most sense and try and pick up a solid middle six forward on a decent contract and then re-sign Marchy.
As a Sharks fan, Stephenson, Marchessault, and Amadio are all guys I think the Sharks should target in Free Agency, but for Vegas I think they need to keep that top 6 as intact as possible. No matter what they're losing a lot of depth and don't have many assets to spend anymore to get a good replacement guy if someone does in fact go onto LTIR

Setting the record straight with Necas
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Thanks for your analysis. Certainly if Necas was a good centre....he would have filled that position instead of have KK and 6h4 trading for Kuznetsov.
Similar situation with Leafs Nylander. Yeah he can play centre in a pinch, but he is much better winger.</div></div>
You could "get by" playing him in the middle if you had do. But long term? No.
A canes fan was trying to make the argument that he spent 13 years or something playing center? Lol. A lot of NHL players played center in what, peewee? Doesn't make him a center at the NHL level

Mitch is a Golden Knight
The trade probably works in value, Leafs are probably losing out a little but, Vegas wouldn't be able to afford Marner even with retention.
Even without Marner they probably won't be able to bring back Stephenson and Marchessault is a long shot too

Kings aren't trading Clarke. And no GM in the league would give up a pick for Kampf and that contract.

LA can't afford Marner next season let alone this season (even with the retention), LA's priority is in this order: Byfield, Starting Goaltender, Roy Reup or Replacement, Arvidsson Reup or Replacement.
Marner has priced himself out of most competitive markets and would be too expensive to obtain if you want blue-chip prospects and firsts to make retention work. I feel like we have this conversation every week, is this how you approach dating? Is this the wear-them-down method?

Offseason
That's a set of wishful thinking trades for certain. The Canes would laugh at that Gibson deal. With Strome and McGinn I'd love to get them off the roster but that much retention will NEVER happen on Strome. McGinn had back surgery so no team is going to take that contract.
I'm not sure how Ned takes an iffy season in PIT at 1.5M AAV and turns it into a 4M AAV contract. That is just setting money on fire by the Ducks.
Travis Boyd will never wear a Ducks sweater. Leason is bigger, better, younger than LaBanc. Both Vaakanainen and Gus Lindstrom are better than Freidman.
Nesterenko is an interesting one. There are three guys in San Diego that I could see winning a roster spot: him, Regenda and Colangelo. To me Nesterenko is the least likely but camp will sort that out. They could also re-sign Groulx but I don't see that as all that likely.

Depends how the draft goes
If Demidov goes 2nd, then ANA have no reason not to draft Levshunov at 3rd OA. In a scenario where Levshunov goes 2nd OA, maybe ANA could trade down to #5 to select someone like Zayne Parekh IF they really want a RHD, because otherwise they draft either Demidov or Lindstrom at 3rd. In terms of value, not sure ANA would ask for Owen Beck, they have their own future 3C in Nathan Gaucher. The MTL 2025 2nd round pick is enticing since it’s gonna be an early one. Maybe a Filip Mesar with more upside than an Owen Beck, idk

Selling low on Brady but getting severely overpaid for Chabot and Korpisalo.
