Interesting…I could see a deal being worked out between the Habs and the Isles then if what they need is cap space.

Slackin for Brandsegg-Nygard
Holtz and Guhle were drafted the same year.
Guhle is already a top 4 dman.
Holtz played bottom 6 and was thrown under the bus by his coach for his lack of defensive play.
If you were a GM of a team with Guhle on the roster, would you swap him straight up for Holtz?

Oh yeah? I heard rumours but honestly there were rumours about every big bodied forward free agent who could put the puck in the net during the Bergy era. IDK how many were actually true.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>exo2769</b></div><div>I'm pretty sure both MTL and CHI say no to that trade.</div></div>
Why would Chicago say no to this?! They get a young NHL ready right handed dman and an injury plagued yet serviceable center half retained that is only under contract for one more season and all it cost them is to move back a 3rd from this year to the next year. Of course they would say yes to this trade but Hughes would have to be out of his mind to even offer it.

Can’t argue with that solid reasoning.

I’d trade Anderson with those picks for Anders Lee straight up, no retention necessary but I’m going to go ahead and assume Montreal is on his 15 no trade list so the point is moot.

Hutson could make it. I explained in another comment how we can afford to keep him and all the other guys. Just send down Struble who isn’t very good right now</div></div>
Wow that’s a harsh critique of Mailloux. I feel he’s vastly improved his defence this season and considering it’s his first year pro that is a very promising sign. Does he still make bad reads in his own zone? Sure but so does Barron and Mailloux is a tad bigger, way more physical and has a howitzer for a shot. If we deal a RHD I see it being Barron not Mailloux.

Mark my words MTL will keep Matheson. He’s too 10 in D scoring, top 5 in minutes, a local and wears an A. We cannot ice a dcore of just guys under 25. It’s the part of the ice where you need experience the most.

Don’t have an excess on the right side and how would Reinbacher have fallen in a redraft already? There has only been 4 players that have played an NHL game.

Pay? Goodrow is a cap dump himself at this point and Chytil’s career is unfortunately very much in question. Not saying this deal would get it done by any means but NYR is definitely not “paying for a cap dump” in this situation.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>F50marco</b></div><div>Savard, Armia, Dvorak, Evans + cap increase should be enough. Not to mention that Anderson is likely gone one way or another. They'd be fine.
Im all for adding Stamkos at whatever number he wants as long as its short term. Toffoli will get more than that though and frankly I'd be ok with just Stamkos. Newhook deserves the other top 6 mins off the hop here IMO. Dvorak-Armia-Roy on 3rd line. Evans Gally and whoever on 4th.</div></div>
Idk, Stammer is great but I just don’t think it’s a great idea to go out and spend 10.5 a year for the next 3 years on a guy who’s 34 years old. Also I know +\~ is an archaic stat and all but has anyone else noticed that he is a ~21 on a team that has a +25 goal differential?

If MTL goes out and spends nearly 15mill on veteran UFAs this year then what happens next year when they need to sign Guhle and Slafkovsky to long term contracts?

The plan
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PenguinMullet68</b></div><div>To dump Dvorak and actually get some positive value is a win</div></div>
Teams only pay to dump contracts with one year left if they’re in a cap crunch which the Habs are not and then on top of that you’ve got MTL using their last retention spot on said contract…not to mention for some reason you have them giving up the most valuable piece in Kirby Dach.

But that was in college hockey.
Think about it, yeah I believe he’ll get to play at least one of the back-backs to finish the season but he’ll have to learn the system, get comfortable with his defensive partner and then go out and play against seasoned vets…by either Monday or Tuesday. I’d be very surprised if St.Louis threw him to the wolves to finish out the season.

Comparing him to Caufield, the only reason he would be worth less in my eyes is age, and the fact that Cole still has 2-3 years of offensive growth, but Necas is a good player.
I wouldn’t trade our 1st 2024 for him, nor a top prospect like Hutson or Rein, but a couple mid 1sts is a fair price</div></div>
A couple of mid firsts sure but you forgot to mention Mailloux and a 2nd as well. Also I have my resignations about Farrell but the guy is still a decent prospect. Like I said it’s just a lot.

Idk about that. Struble is solid, young and comes on the cheap. Not saying Montreal wouldn’t have to add in a swap because of Holloway’s first round pedigree but a late first may actually be too much when considering the respective seasons both these guys have had.

Maybe I just haven’t seen Necas play enough but I wouldn’t give all that up for him.
