Sell sell sell
Barron is still young and the Habs are looking to trade the RD prospects. They have Reinbacher, Mailloux, Barron on the right side and they need to see if they pan out

Savard trade flipped
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dannibalcorpse</b></div><div>$3.5M is not a "decent" cap hit for a guy like Savard. He brings minimal offense to the table, and his possession numbers are fairly negative this year - his CF is 43% at 5v5 despite the fact that he's getting nearly half his even strength starts in the O-zone, compared to last year when he got less than 40% offensive starts.
A 33 year old making $3.5M who'd be third pair on a contender just isn't worth a 1st. I'd argue that being on the hook for his age-34 season at $3.5M is more of a detriment than an asset, honestly.</div></div>
He’s the type of defenseman you need in the Playoffs. Ask Tampa, i’m sure they wouldn’t mind having him back and I wouldn’t even be surprised if they try to acquire him before Friday 3pm

Savard trade flipped
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ht42</b></div><div>As a Habs fan, if a high-quality element isn't in the trade, that's not a deal for Zegras. Montreal should make a trade with their 2024 1st round pick with a top 5 protection.</div></div>
Habs wont deal their first round pick. Even if its 6-7-8. The player they draft with be on ELC for 3 years whereas Zegras has a 5.7M cap hit for 2 more seasons after this one and his due a for a raise after

Hanifin is a pending UFA. Savard has one more year at a decent cap hit

Savard Retained
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Andy_Dick</b></div><div>Mtl won’t retain if that’s the return. It’s their last spot.
There is no rush with another year of term and Xhekaj/Savard is a pair they like going forward. Hughes has said only a massive overpay will be enough for Savard who’s having a career year. That their is nothing available at RHD outside Dumba who is awful</div></div>
They regain a spot this summer with edmundson coming off

KJ91
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dk325</b></div><div>That's nice, but again, where is the motivation for the Jackets to make that kind of trade? If it were that easy to get guys with top 6 potential then they could've packaged Foudy, Peeke, and their 2020 1st for Nick Suzuki a few years ago. Giving up on a 21 y/o with KJ's talent level without getting anyone even close to the same level of potential doesn't make sense for a rebuilding team. Put Reinbacher on the table and we can talk.</div></div>
Id do Reinbacher for KJ in a heartbeat

I’d think it would have to be Sergachev-for-Drouin positional swap. Ghule-for-Johnson type of move.</div></div>
Wouldn’t surprise me

If people want to propose trades for players like KJ or Jiricek then they need to put their top young players on the block too.</div></div>
Seeing as Beck is one of the Habs top prospects, Barron is ayoung RHD and theyre getting a late first, I though the package was fair. This is esentially 3 first rounders for KJ if you count Beck at 33

BUF trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KentMcNally</b></div><div>The only thing I would say about Montreal being hesitant to do this is that Ostlund is 5 foot 10 and 165 pounds, according to his player page on this site. I am not sure if Montreal wants to go that small again. Not much bigger than Caufield. With him on the roster Montreal’s lineup for the playoffs in a few years (hopefully) looks like it would have a tough time with the grind.
No doubt, though, he looks to be a talented player.</div></div>
I used Ostlund because it was rumored he was a player the Habs liked at the draft if they couldnt land Dach!

Knight’s waiver exemption is what makes this possible.
He’ll remain waiver exempt for 2 more seasons, or 21 more NHL games played.

Reliable backup for Bobrovsky and they have no first rounder in the next 2 drafts. They just sent Knight down to the AHL and it appears clear they dont fully trust him as an NHL starter. Plus that CGY 1st in a draft thats suposed to be very good could end up being a top 10 pick.

He only wants a short term deal because Anaheim is too cheap to pay him what hes worth.
