I thought they are set on C with Aho, Kuz, KK and Staal. And I doubt Sabres adding Jokiharju to 11 OA would move a needle on Necas. Jokiharju is nothing fancy, but he would cost half cap space Pesce would and would eat ice-time every game.

Not saying that’s a bad thing but it doesn’t do much for them. They’re probably still looking to package Necas for an upgrade as their preference.</div></div>
Sabres have future assets, they are looking for next season top 6 winger or established, defensive 3C
.
Where Canes need upgrade ? I still assume, them having 7mil Necas on 3rd line is luxury, they cannot afford.

What Canes are looking for ? Can they get it with 11 OA in 2024 draft?

Canes can use 11 OA for further trades, nothing is preventing them from it. I am not looking into 3-team trade scenarios.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac555</b></div><div>
Take a second and think about this…you traded for Necas and gave him $49m (7x7). Would the Sabres trade Thompson for a mid-1st?</div></div>
Necas is not on the same level as Thompson, Thompson plays on much more important position. Thompson`s contract is below his value, because he signed it in bad moment for him. So, no I wouldnt trade Thompson for 11 OA.

He is 3C right now, so any trade would have to out play him for this role.

The Sabres need to address a tertiary scoring 3C and a defensive 4C.
The trade idea with the Sabres is decent to accept.</div></div>
Grans is not the trade target at all. Better keep Krebs, since he is playing position of need.

Vsevolod Komarov is Sabres' best RHD prospect and Sabres can easily wait for him, while Cliffton's deal is still on books.

Sabres are not interested in adding yet another small forward in Garland. Giving up only Greenway and Kisakov would be fine, but trade target is not it.

I cannot see anybody taking full 9,5 over next 6 years for basically dead weight - there is no Arizona anymore, SJS just got their golden ticket, so they are going up in season or two.

They cannot retain Guentzel, Jarvis, Skjei and Necas with only 27 mil to do it. They also have Martinook, Terravainen, Chatfield to resign, because Pesce is gone.

The issue is that Canes are basically force to trade Necas. Its very good offer - 11 OA, good NHL-ready prospect and NHL-level RHD defensemen

OS Right Play For Necas
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>littlejerryseinfeld</b></div><div>They would match that and then offersheet every sabre</div></div>
They cant. They have 27 mil in cap space , and they need choose which to resign from Guentzel, Jarvis, Necas, Skjei, Pesce. I assusme Pesce is gone as UFA, and Necas` RFA rights woud be traded. Then they could keep Terravainen, Martinook etc

Canes would agree to 2024 1st (11 OA) easily. Something like 11 OA for Necas and 25 3rd

He needs a skilled center, hes not going to elevate a bottom 6 guy</div></div>
So Nylander would have to carry his own line and Matthew`s line would have to be him, Skinner and Marner - that's 35 mil to 1 line.
It's cant happen, even if Toronto decides to force out Tavares and he would only want to go Buffalo, for whatever reason.

Skinner would need good passoriented center around to be effective, and Matthews is not that type of player, that would setup Skinner

I can see such trade happening, but Toronto would not receive prive equivalent to 90 pts player
