I care lol. We gave up some nice picks. I would like at least a solid pick, prospect or roster player that can help us.

Toronto will prioritize a RHD this offseason, if they can’t get the guys they want I think they’d do this

Leafs need RHD, not over rated LHD from a bottom feeding team looking to get paid

idk he was horrible last season, lazy and disinterested on most nights, i could pretty easily see him returning even less than this

i think the cap savings you’d get from this would let you get your pick of the litter in FA. Some pretty good options this year

If I had to play with JBD and Hamonic all season I would be depressed too. Not to mention the dogcrap goaltending.

yeah the context in which he played the majority of the season was unfavourable to say the least, but even then results were okay-but-not-good even away from JBD & Hamonic. Like it’s not a tell-all stat, but you don’t get to -30 on the season just from your partners being bad.

To me, he is who he is. A one-dimensional T4 LD. I think he could probably be a good offensive option, but i don’t think we need that with the current roster makeup. if he stays, we also wouldn’t be able to find a partner to let him play at his best either. It’s another no-win situation dorion put us is with only a few outs that are actually beneficial

Yeah you're definitely right. We can't afford a partner for Chabby + Chych and Chych is just easier to move.

if they can get rid of Chabot for something not totally horrible, i’d keep chychrun too. Like you’re saying though, i think moving chychrun gives us more potential for a better roster

Chychrun is starting to feel like PLD 2.0 player is one of the better players on a bad team (CBJ/ARI) forces his way out to another team. Then within 24 months is pushing to get to a 3rd team.
I say this and I liked the idea of Chychrun coming to the leafs, but now Im hesitant.

I don’t think he’s pushing a trade to be fair, he’s just not a fit and is the most expendable. I think he knows it as much as the fans and management do.

Leafs trade is reasonable, Carrier and Lillegren contracts are WAY too pricey. Lillegren is going to be closer to 2 million, Carrier will be closer to 3 million. I'd rather go big game UFA shopping with Pesce or Roy but I could see the Sens having to settle for Carrier. If they have to then use the remaining cap space to sign Pinto long term, 5-6 million should get him locked up for 5/6 years.

carrier is going to get more that what might be expected imo. Pretty young, had always had strong numbers, and the salary’s going to rise as well

He's in that second tier of players - the top guys are certainly going to get paid but the middle guys like Carrier get squeezed and end up not getting the big raises people expect

Its interesting because im not sure the top tier is necessarily deep enough to squeeze anyone out. Montour is the top guy and will likely get the most, but behind him is a lot of guys who profile pretty similarly to Carrier. Demelo, Tanev, Chatfield, Matt Roy, Walker and Pesce. To me at least, none of those guys are discernably more valuable than one another, and Roy + Pesce seem like long shots in terms of actually ending up on ottawa. you could conceivably play the market and get one of those guys for a bit less, but if we have the cap (we do) id also be equally as happy to pay for the guy that fits the best
