Rossi *might* hit 40 points this year... Necas is a multiple time 60-70 point winger. He can't be the centerpiece of a Necas trade. Try Boldy.

Lmao the only Boldy - Necas trade that would make sense would be a 1-for-1 and I'd rather have the guy who is younger, having the better year, and already signed long term to our team.

Necas is putting up similar production while playing with Kuznetsov and Teravainen, Boldy is playing with Kaprizov and Eriksson Ek... Necas has played fewer games... if Boldy isn't on the table, you're not simply not getting Necas.

Boldy has 160 points in 193 career games (.82 ppg), which covers his 20-22 yo seasons. Necas had 119 in 202 games over that same span (.58 ppg). And Boldy is signed long term.

Boldy has more value. Which, it's fine if that's your ask, but obviously MN isn't doing that.

Rossi for Necas is interesting, I don't know what picks and/or prospects would need to be added to even it out. How is does Rossi project going forward? I'd be a bit concerned he wouldn't get much ice time with the center depth the Canes have, but if he can slot into the top 6 then it would be interesting since most of the Canes centers are bottom 9 guys imo.

I can't see the Isles retaining 50% for 2 years for only a 5th round pick.

Rossi is just a rookie this year, but he likely won't finish too far behind how Aho did his rookie year. The thought here would be for Carolina to run Aho -> Rossi -> Kuzy -> Staal/KK down the middle. Not paying Necas and getting a guy on an ELC like Rossi should leave them plenty money to extend Guentzel I would think.

You seem to way over value your players. Rossi plus an early 2nd and. 3rd should be a fair return for necas. You are getting a rookie who could very easily become a very good 2c or maybe even 1c and extra cap flexibility.

Islanders say no, not enough going back for our captain at 50% who is still a 20 goal scorer and scored 28 goals 2/3 seasons. Lee is definitely overpaid but this package isn't worth if we need to retain 50%

Keep him then, Necas' age 20-22 seasons were disrupted by a pandemic. He put up 70 points last year and is the fastest skater in the NHL. He's the better player, and the fact he is likely to sign an 8 year deal means he's the more valuable piece here. Don't want to move Boldy, that's fine, but let's be clear. Necas is a CLEAR upgrade

Cool, so Carolina get a 30 point scorer, a 2nd and a 3rd for an annual 60+ point producer in a system that strangles offensive talent? There's no reason for Carolina to consider this. Boldy needs to be on the table, or Necas needs to be in a package that brings something like Kaprizov, a roster upgrade. Rossi, I like. He's got potential, but he's also got risk. This isn't worth it

Correct, MN will happily keep the better and more-productive player who actually has a deal on the books vs. your hypothetical 8-year that doesn't exist.

Carolina will happily keep the better player who has more to offer... Necas is better than Boldy, there's not really an argument against it

Right I mean Boldy only has more goals and points than Necas this year with less games played, but there's definitely no argument whatsoever.

And nevermind that Boldy significantly outproduced Necas over the same age span, because Necas was the only person on the planet impacted by COVID. So that really wouldn't be a fair argument.

Good call man, my bad.

Necas' covid season stopped him from another 60 point campaign, and if Necas played with Kaprizov and JEE, he'd put up 80. He's playing with Kuznetsov and Teravainen in 2024... stop it. Not to mention, Boldy has actually played more minutes this season! 1211 to 1207, not a lot but it negates the whole "games played" argument

What because you can't handle the face Necas is better? There is help available for people with the problem you seem to be suffering with, and I hope you find the strength to get it. Truly, I do
