I think the problem this season was Freddie... the offense produced just fine

I'm pretty sure that Mini will move out a goaltender this offseason with Wallstedt being ready and that should free up enough cap

Umm... did you see his linemates for most of the year... a lot of the time it was Stefan Noesen and Jack Drury not exactly Jack Hughes or Nico Hischier

Going after Pesce and Necas
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aadoyle</b></div><div>Carolina has a bunch of good prospects and one could argue are a bit crowded.
I would either want picks for Necas to use in another deal to maybe bring in a blue liner
Or I would look to move Necas in a hockey trade. Kind of like what BUF and AVS did this TDL</div></div>
Our prospect pool is really thin at the one area where we really need reinforcements which is center... it's only Ryan Suzuki and a bunch of hope and prayers... I think Geekie makes a lot of sense for the Hurricanes both in the short term and the long term. Also having him on a ELC really relaxes the cap pressure that we'd be under assuming we're able to dump a couple of contracts
I think the blue line will be fine. Morrow, Slavin, Burns, and Orlov are all signed and Chatfield is probably coming back which means all we need is a third-pairing defensemen

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aadoyle</b></div><div>Yea Carolina aint doing that
Gonna cost at min a 1st + to get Necas
He's an RFA and they can jus extend him if thats the offer</div></div>
I think the price for Necas would more likely be a higher end prospect+ that is close to breaking into the show... like a Geekie

A second and a fourth is a slap in the face... Necas being dealt would require a high-level prospect going back or a top-6 six center

Necas would probably cost a high-end prospect preferable a center and I have my eye on David Goyette specifically

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>theleano1</b></div><div>We can offer 8 years, he takes home more money on the 8th year alone. More Endorsement. Money here. Quality of teammates Is very arguable Vancouver has gone further than Canes this year. His wife had said they'd prefer to stay in Canada with their child being due in the fall it makes things more complicated to move to the us. His wife also loves the city, city Is also nicer. Lindholm has played in Canada for years he can handle media pressure. In reality he makes more here, lives in a nicer city, both teams are in a competitive spot. family Is happy in current location. There really isn't a reason to leave</div></div>
Those are fair points but I would also argue that Carolina possibly will have more money to throw around to him to win a bidding war for him... they are gonna be desperate for a 2C while Vancouver is not

For a few reasons... We already have 5C's either under contract or RFA and all of them except for Sebastian Aho are either 3/4C so I'm getting rid of a couple of them of and bringing in a new 2C to help

I do think Rod is a great coach, but not for us anymore. He needs to go.
I'd LOVE to have a coach like Brunette behind our bench</div></div>
I don't think this series was Rod's fault... It was mainly Freddie Andersen and that .878 save percentage

I think this series was lost by Frederik Andersen and his massively subpar goaltending (.878). I think the Hurricanes need a changing of the guard at goaltending and a 2C and we'll be fine... Rod has shown a much more balanced approach towards the game this year and the playoffs showed it

That's a fair point but none of the GMs who could realistically get/need Lindholm are gonna panic and give him $8m... I'd be willing to give him $7 on a short term deal if we can move our a couple of contracts to fix that problem

Granlund is very inconsistent. You never know if he's gonna pop off or go ghost.
EL is good but... he migh tdemand around 8m and I don't think he's worth that</div></div>
My plan with Nelson would be to draft somebody like Dean Letourneau and use Nelson as like a stopgap
I can see Rossi+ for Necas
Fair enough on Granlund
Lindholm is not getting $8m for a variety of reasons

But if Andersen was a goalie Seattle had interest in, having term on his contract would be desirable if the cost to acquire included Daccord. Daccord was one of Seattle's more astute picks in the expansion draft, one whose development has been a considerable bonus. Don't see him going anywhere.</div></div>
That's a fair point... I can see a trade around Daccord being more along the lines of helping out Seattle in other area of needs
