But Reilly is another LHD. While he would compliment the other LHD well, I am not sure this is the deal. I like the premise of Power/Skinner for Marner, but it would be a better fit with Lilijgren as a younger RHD, and then fill in from there to balance the trade

Jets buy Andersson 21
BUF could get Iafallo for a lot less than Johnson.....and would probably rather get Andersson for themselves...
CGY wants a better pick (as mentioned a late 1st/early 2nd)....
WPG would be extatic to get Andersson.... but it would take more to get him

marner for power
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JCANN</b></div><div>Agree to disagree on value of marner here. I think he is worth the same as Pettersson who just inked at 11.5, so most likely somewhere around there. I disagree that a skinner/power deal is in the realm of possibility as I think skinner's contract alone would take a mid 1st to get rid of. I do think a Marner/Liljegren/Roberson deal makes sense tho.</div></div>
Fair enough. I arguably think Pettersson should be paid more than Marner, but if Marner's cap hit was the same that would be fair.
As for the Power/Skinner part I agree there would need to be more added for sure; that was more of just out lining the 4 main components I had envisioned.

Prospects for NHL talent
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>doaftheloaf</b></div><div>99 was for sale. Literally. This isn't the same situation and you know it.
Bob Gainey, Jere Lehtinen, and Patrice Bergeron were never traded. Also this is a cap league and JEE is underpaid for what he brings. It makes the Wild a lot worse now, and probably doesn't make them any better later.
And the fact he hasn't won a Selke is complete BS.</div></div>
Never said it was thesame situation; just can't say that JEE is untouchable.
I agree with your point about the salary cap era is completely different. And that he is underpaid for his overall value. However the right deal comes along and he is on the first plane out of MIN. Whether this proposal is THAT deal is totally debatable, but he is not untouchable. In fact, very few players are.
As for the Selke, that had become Bergeron's personal mantle piece. Now that he is gone, hopefully JEE and a few others start get real recognition. But, sorry, I don't see him having deserved it over what Bergeron brought year in and year out.

Do you want me to mention that even Wayne Gretzky got traded? There is always a price. JEE is NOT on the trade block, but I am hard pressed to call him untouchable. If this is it or not can always be debated

marner for power
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JCANN</b></div><div>Not sure why this trade is seen so badly, buffalo really dosen't have a superstar forward. You could make the argument that Tage Thompson could be that guy, but at 26 he has only put together one excellent season. Buffalo certainly has guys that might become superstars but if they want to be competitive next season Marner would help more than power. They already have their number one star defence. I think something along these lines actually makes a lot of sense for both teams. (Assuming marner signs before the trade that is)</div></div>
The problem isn't the trade concept; it's Marner's cap hit going forward. If he was on an 8yr/10M deal then yes, get rid of the picks and it makes sense. But Marner is going to want 12M+ on his next deal and that's a NO from BUF.
Make this Skinner & Power for Marner (with reasonable.extension) and Liljegren and BUF might do it. But shipping out Skinner's 9M and Power's 8M to get Marner & a younger RHD back it might be worth while for both teams

This is an Eichel-level return package.... I like JEE alot as a player, but hard to say he is worth this package.
For example kick the picks a year each ( '25 1st; '26 2nd) and swap out Kulich for Ostlund or Rousek and we might be closer

Send need to be good now
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Elie99</b></div><div>If Hanifin got traded for a 1st and a 3rd, then Matheson is easily worth a 1st with his 4.8M deal. Was 9th in D scoring above Hanifin, and is reliable on the defensive end. He may not be worth a top 10 pick but a pick in the 20's for sure.</div></div>
On September 24, 2020, Matheson was traded by the Panthers to the Pittsburgh Penguins, along with Colton Sceviour, in exchange for Patric Hörnqvist. On July 16, 2022, Matheson, along with a 2023 fourth-round draft pick, was traded to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for Jeff Petry and Ryan Poehling.
