That is a big jump in draft and not likely Carolina wants to spend their best trade asset on improving draft position. I don’t think it make sense for either team.
Send ‘em Dach and a dman…or something like that. Hockey trade.

Wouldn't do that as MTL. Sure Necas is good but moving from 6 to 27 to acquire him isn't it. Plus adding Harris and a 2nd

Big Mac is only 30, is a solid physical presence, can play forward and defense, and is a solid veteran to keep around. Fully buriable cap hit, so this is really not a huge deal.
Good signing

An Outsiders Vision - DAL
I'm not going to blow smoke and tell you that Dellandrea is an unmoveable piece or that there's no way Dallas moves him. He's a bottom-6, jack-of-all-trades kind of forward & I think both Dellandrea and Dallas are happy with that role for him.
He's not disgruntled, looking for his role in the top-6 somewhere & I think he understands that his role in the NHL is that of a depth player. I'm not sure he's really much of a "fresh start" trade candidate. If someone came by and offered a fair deal for him, then sure he's a player that Dallas could wind up moving, but I honestly don't see the Stars actively shopping his RFA rights this offseason. They're pretty happy with what they've got in him and the role he plays on this team.

Habs have given up on Ylonen IMO. Maybe they trade him if they can, but I see them just letting him walk.

He's had a great KHL career, but this is an insane bet for a guy who came in and stunk the place up for 3 games. Could totally work out, but it's just as likely he's Russian Mikko Koskinen

We have to cap space to give him that, but at this point you might as well let him go back to russia and get somebody else.

skinner
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MountRoyal</b></div><div>Wait, why does Skinner say no to playing a few years on a line with Crosby? If he was playing out his contract in sunny, low-tax Florida then I can see it, but he is currently in Buffalo ...</div></div>
Because he wants to be near family in Toronto, and toronto certainly doesn't need or want him. That's why his contract is still mind boggling. He's an offense only winger- who is a liability on defense, he was coming off a season scoring 40 (with 26 assists mind you) with eichel. What's the market for that player?- maybe Hoffman would be a decent comp, so a shade over 5 per. The Sabres gave him 9 per, with a full ntc, like it matters.

As a Sabres fan I would do it. It clears cap space 3 years early. I might attach a prospect or retain a couple million We have to resign Quinn , peterka and benson.

i mean they had 20 millions in LTIR contracts, they didnt really need any more to reach the floor.

You had a entire team to sign last year and withput the ltiretired contracts ypu would be finishing this season 10+ million under the floor.
It will be the same issue as last season. Trying to find guys worth paying the amount of money needed to even make the floor will be almost impossible

Good thought. The LTIR doesn't affect the cap in the 24/25 or 25/26 if the salary and bonuses don't go over 87.7m in 24/25..
But you're right.....Arizona might go "LTIR hunting" this summer.

Not quite a rebuild
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AdamL188</b></div><div>i asked the MTL subreddit cuz I didn't know his value lol, they told me abt a 3rd round pick</div></div>
Nils Lundkvist is the most recent young RHD for picks trade I can think of and brought a 1st and 4th.
IF Montreal were to trade Barron for pick(s), it should be for a 1st at a minimum.
There are a lot of fans who are not on board with proper rebuild and development, that have no patience for grooming a young player into an effective NHLer over time.
They might be willing to throw away any player not having an immediate impact in order to rush someone else into that spot (Mailloux and Reinbacher) and those will be the same fans who complain when we trade a promising young defenseman for the next Gomez or Drouin, while that defender goes on to realize their potential elsewhere.
