What preference would you have to moving that pick? We shouldn't be moving this year's selection and 2026 is going to be a tough year for us most likely.

Pick swap is because we are projecting to finish worse than you in the standings so you would move up in the third round

MARNER TRADE UPDATED

I even said that the sens wouldnt and shouldnt do a marner for tkachuk cause of tkachuks contract but marner is the better player. but brady is viewed as this god who hasnt done anything so far in his career</div></div>
Brady, is someone that actually has a voice in the lockerroom, is Marner well liked by his coaches and teammates through and through. Not from what we have recently seen in the playoffs.
Brady puts everything into every shift. Also to your point what has Marner lead his team to? You cannot say the playoffs or whatever because it isn't Marner carrying the team on his back, its Matthews and Nylander that are the true stars of the leafs

Reports have surfaced showing the Capitals have been in contact with the Wild regarding a potential Rossi trade, nothing has been said about what could potenitally go the other way in the trade, other than the fact that Miro and Leonard are off limits

MARNER TRADE UPDATED
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Herb_Brooks</b></div><div>nobody will admit it, but the only thing brady has on marner is contract status and physicality i guess, marner is the better player. better production and defensively. the knock on marner is he hasnt been good in the playoffs, but brady tkachuk is 6 years into his career and has never played a second of playoff hockey. brady at 4 years>marner at 1 but marners better lets not kid ourselves</div></div>
Two completely different players, I would rather have a 35-40 goal scoring 1st line power forward that actually will lead a team compared to a 100 point primadonna that disappears on the ice from time to time. Also Marner is 3 years older and fits the Senators window far less

The Reports are the Capitals have been in contact with the Wild for Rossi. I don't know what has been potentially offered

MARNER TRADE UPDATED
Personally I don't think I would trade Brady for Marner. Brady is a leader, a rare breed of power forward (like Wilson or a slightly more hard nosed version of his brother). Marner has insane talent but I think Brady is more valuable in the overall landscape of the NHL

I wanted Benson if we didn't get Michkov, But I was not upset about getting Leonard. I personally did not want Dvorksy, I didn't see his game translating well. Granted he has looked good in the OHL and international but I thought I was right on him when he struggled in the SHL at the beginning of the season

There has been some winners of course.</div></div>
I mean Lazar isn't really that bad, and Thomson could have been developed a little better I feel. Boucher still has time but its not looking too great.
The Capitals have certainly had some poor picks along the years, but our problem is our GM was trading our firsts to try and win the cup, which we eventually finally did after actually not trading our 1st lmfao

My top 32 Rank (Not Draft) Give opinions thanks
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BillytheKid3</b></div><div>That's not... that's not really the argument I'm making here. Most of the guys in the top 17 will need a year or 2 of development also so that point is irrelevant.
My argument is he's on the younger side of the prospects (which does matter at that age) and that I don't think he falls all the way out of the top 10, and certainly not down to 17.
Every year every pick between like 7-50 can be a toss up because these are basically kids your picking from. Even late round guys develop well.
The kid broke the USNTDP record for goals in a season and he's like 6 months to a year younger than 95% of this draft class, I just don't think a team at like 10th passes that up because Zadina was a bust 7 years ago and some guy at The Athletic thinks he's a cherry picker.
I don't know, I could be wrong. I just don't want Ottawa to draft another bust tbh lol.</div></div>
Who are your busts? Boucher? Thompson? I don't think JBD is a bust. Maybe Colin White?

Season Starter
That third line would get eaten alive night in and night out. You would arguably worse off to start the season like this. Skjei is a good pick up but the goaltending is still not top 16 in the league. And again that third line is all rookies minus Robertson and he has one seasons worth of games in four years

My question is what is their plan with Askarov? He seems ready for a bigger role than an AHL goaltender. Do they potentially move him to the NHL roster and trade Lankinen or do they let him have another season as one of the best goaltender's in the AHL

My top 32 Rank (Not Draft) Give opinions thanks
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BillytheKid3</b></div><div>Ya guys see Pronmans rankings and think teams will just straight go by that. I've been debating [arguing] a few Caps fans about this.
My comment recycled from another thread below:
"I know we're all armchair analysts here, and you're mock draft is very interesting. That kid is one of the purest goal scorers I've ever seen.
Keep in mind, Eiserman is a basically a September 06 (Aug 29th) so he's one of the youngest players in this draft. I could only imagine what another 8 months to a year could do. Someone graabs the kid in the top 10."</div></div>
I will say, everyone gave into my logic on the other post.
For a shortened version here:
Eiserman has the talent for his offensive ability but he is not a complete player and is a ways off from being NHL ready. Needs probably another 2 years of development.
Here is the point I made. Look back to the 2018 draft and look at the hype around Filip Zadina. He was seen as the same type of prospect, a massive offensive threat that had his shot going for him. Teams passed on him because he was not a complete player and I am sure Detroit wishes they could go back and pass on him as well. Not saying Eiserman will pan out the same way, but that is the type of risk you take with this kind of player.

I think they did well from 2017-2021. Granted Bouch was a reach but he could turn out to be a decent player, just might need more development time.
