10 center targets ranked by likelihood
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dons_weeney</b></div><div>He was drafted as a center, so technically he is one. The problem with boston is they have limited assets, so they're not gonna be able to just get a center in their mid 20's, they'll have to take a "risk" on someone like Necas and hope he pans out as a center. Worst case, he becomes 2rw, which they need anyways.</div></div>
Most forwards are drafted as centres, but only a few actually turn out to be true NHL centres.
Perfect recent example for BOS is Frederic. Was drafted as a C, but he's better suited as a winger.
Same applies to Necas. CZE were playing Kampf over Necas at C in worlds. He's better suited as a RW.

Necas is not a C period. In the worlds CZE had David Kampf as the C instead of him....
I would be way more comfortable with Lindholm instead, that's not even debatable.

Ya I didn't mean technical 1C in terms of talent. Was more implying there is a 0% chance they run it back with the same C core.

After the press conference
There is 0% chance they don't resolve the 1C issue this summer. Winning faceoffs was a problem, they're lacking a really good bumper player on PP1, and the many comments about having strong two-way centres. You can draw your conclusions on who the fit is. Should be obvious with the rumours that were flying around at the deadline.
I'm sure Sweeney saying he's happy to keep Ullmark is to not publicly sound desperate about trading him and lose leverage. What do you think happens if Sweeney admits he's looking to move Ullmark? Which is why he said if the phone rings, he'll listen.
Ya I think BOS will treat DeBrusk similarly to how they treated Bertuzzi last year. Explore what's out there on the market, revisit if need be.

Looking back at my old ACGMs. Funny enough, this wasn't the lineup they went with, but at least they were competitive LOL

Top Six Infusion
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tylerbarbieri87</b></div><div>Kenny Boi, I don't think that this team is getting Stamkos. So as I mentioned above, I figure that because Montgomery is in the media begging the front office for more goal scoring touch, this team will get one of Guentzel Reinhart, Marchessault, etc gets a deal in this range from the Bruins.
Crucially, you will notice I did not address the Center position. This team has $22.5M in projected cap space on 7/1/25 because I am hoping that Bruins will pursue Leon Draisaitl once he becomes a UFA.</div></div>
I disagree with waiting a whole year in the hopes that Draisaitl doesn't re-sign with EDM. BOS is in a great position to be a top contender next season, but they won't be if they run it back with the same top6 C. They need to get a 1C this off-season, either by free agency or trade.
Also, Stamkos would be a terrible option for 1C, and Guentzel is getting around $2M more in the open market.

Saving cap going rental
Don't think BOS can afford to be good but not great again next year. Got the rookies on ELC deals still, and a number of players on expiring deals that will be looking for raises. BOS is in a great position to be a top contender next season if they play their cards right.
Not to mention if Marchand is thinking retirement after his contract is up.
Spending top dollar on Lindholm this off-season is a no brainer for me (don't think FL lets Reinhart walk). Then get complimentary vets to fill out the rest of the roster (my recent ACGM).

Next Season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Celtics21</b></div><div>Why is Boston retaining and not getting anything for it?
Lindholm is making a lot of the money he lost during the season back with his playoff. Solid two play, consistently winning board battles. He looks like a very good option at center if he’ll come</div></div>
I honestly don't think Ullmark's trade value is as high as most BOS fans think. Small retention to incentivise the higher graded prospect.
Ya I've really liked what i've seen from Lindholm in the playoffs. Great at the dot, more physical than people think, high IQ, and plays the bumper on PP1 which BOS desperately needs.
Edit: I also don't see how you can fit Heinen without taking away opportunity from a rookie, like Merkulov, Brazz, or Lysell. Unless they decide to trade Geekie or Frederic, which I don't really see happening, I don't think they re-sign Heinen.

To me it feels like there was competition driving the price up. Because viewing Sweeney's trades in recent years tells me he usually has a good gauge on players trade value.
Someone in that front office really likes the guy, and with the cap going up, maybe see Peeke's AAV & term as a positive.

(CBJ/BOS) - Peeke for Zboril, 2027 3rd (BOS)
Sweeney forgot Zboril wasn't on the roster and didn't need to dump him LOL.
On a serious note, it's a whatever trade. Yes BOS has a weakness on the right side in terms of depth in the future, so I could see why they were interested in the term Peeke has. I know the probability of that 3rd turning into an NHL player is extremely low, but still feel like they could've leveraged CBJ possibly trying to dump Peeke in the future like some reports indicate.
Definitely seems like BOS was targeting Peeke. We'll see how it works out.
Oh and don't forget about that whole fiasco at last years deadline involving Gavrikov. CBJ felt like they had a deal in place and BOS pulled out at the last moment. May have played a factor here, who knows. Fun to think about.
