Valid points…complete disregard for valuations on my part and more of a ‘wish list’ to hold this team off for one more season. Most posters on here are pushing the same scenarios and OVER valuing players or signing them to unrealistic terms. I was just trying to keep Ullmark around for one more season. My bad!

Attempt at realism lets hear the complaints
The only complaints I have is that you didn’t give Swayman enough and you didn’t opt for a viable center. After that, all your trades don’t matter.

Bostons Back
Boqvist deserves to come back for depth. Signing Monahan that much for that long would be a mistake. I’d see if he bites at 2 years for just over half of what you paid him.

How does underpaying Swayman (and possibly losing him) and giving Philly nothing for Atkinson help? I get enticing Stephenson but I don’t get the other two.

Technically you are correct…I should have said his last ‘big’ contract or last ‘long term’ contract. More than 7 million AAV.
wasn't Rasks last contract 1 year $1M?</div></div>

You’re about 3 million heavy on Stephenson and 250-500k light on Swayman. If Atkinson needs a pick attached to entice a team to take him, why would the Bruins want him at that cap hit?

Swayman gets more than Rasks last contract IMO. Lindholm probably goes for a payday elsewhere and Carolina laughs at that offer.

Necas wont really help
Take out Duhaime and Stolarz, give Grzelcyk 500k less for 1 yr, DeBrusk 1 mil and 2 more years, keep Geekie, make Bussi the back up and trade Ullmark for Caleb Jones and a 4th and you're close!!

If Monahan and Dillon would take those deals, the Bruins would HAVE to do this! This might even get them to the 3rd round!!

Top Six Infusion
You signed Bussi and Pickard so one will most likely be picked up off waivers. DeBrusk will be closer to 5mm for 6 or 7 years and Guentzel will want 9mm plus!! Sweeney will definitely get a center who’s plus 50% on the dot before he gets a 3rd line LD.

What I want Sweeney and company to do roughly
Even if the top brass were to approach this gingerly, I doubt they would put 3 future top centers on the same line. These trades and acquisitions are off in value, need and logic. Frederic and Geekie on the 4th line?? Seriously??

You’re both right…which is why this would never happen. The OP will have 30 versions of this by October. Not sure why so many are breaking up a team that exceeded expectations both in the regular season and the playoffs.

Welcome to the offseason
Maybe Ullmark and a pick for Karlsson but the rest seems unlikely. Signing Thompson might mean losing Bussi so that’s a no, Geekie is playing too well to give up on and Lysell hasn’t been given enough of a chance to prove what he can do in the big club. Hague is an interesting piece but Wotherspoon is filling that role nicely.

I think Stamkos and Pavelski will retire with their current teams. Ullmark will most likely be gone and with the influx of cap, I would guess a top 6 center is their biggest need.

I still think PLD won’t be happy until he has a Habs jersey on him!
Swayman gets more, DeBrusk gets more and Skjei would be nice to spread the minutes out a little more evenly but I doubt the Bruins spend that for a 3rd pairing defenceman when Wotherspoon is still signed and played well enough and has a taste for playoff hockey now!

Game 4 lineup
I would like to see JDB/Coyle/Geekie, Heinen (if healthy)/Zacha/Pasta, Frederic/Boqvist/Lauko and Maroon/Beecher/Brazeau. Defence pairings seem good though I would limit MacAvoy’s minutes (he looks like he’s nursing some ailment but still wants to play) and give Wotherspoon and Peeke extra time!

Game 6
I think Heinen is dealing with an injury and should sit for game 6 along with Maroon! I’d keep DeBrusk with Zacha and Pastrnak, Geekie with Marchand and Coyle, Frederic centering JVR and Lauko and Beecher, Boqvist and Brazeau for the 4th line. Your defensive lines make sense though I can see Monty putting Forbort in instead of Lohrei and pairing him with Shattenkirk!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tupty</b></div><div>In my opinion, this team is overachieving this year, which is great. But I wouldn't just run it back and hope to win the division again. At the very least, I'd try to improve the LD. The one thing going for this approach is that if the young guys improve and there isn't regression in other parts of the lineup, then it is possible that the team could improve with the existing cast.</div></div>
I tried to find a bonafide goal scorer or good LD with the 3-4 million remaining but couldn't find one to replace the current roster. Unless Grzelcyk completely disappears in the playoffs, I think he'd be fine on the 3rd D-pair. And I honestly think Hanafin and Lindolm will sign with someone else!

Is this possible
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Celtics21</b></div><div>I don’t believe Sweeney would have acquired Lindholm only to lose him in free agency. I also don’t believe people are overvaluing him. I think it’s more a form of acceptance that one explainable variance year doesn’t lower value by more than $2M AAV. He was easily making $8.5M AAV before this year based on comparables. I do think it is between 7 and 7.5M personally, but could see him sign for less for an opportunity to play between Zacha and Pasta (likely years and not AAV would be my guess, but it is guess)
With regards to Lohrei not being able to develop as a 3rd line defenseman, that’s BS and you know it. One could make the argument that they acquired Peake to give him a more defensively sound running mate. Right now, he’s the 8th defenseman on the roster, so his level of “improvement” isn’t enough to play over a journeyman AHL’er and an old man signed to a minimum. I do agree he’s gotten better, but not enough to play this year barring injuries.
Even if they choose to sign Lindholm, my bet is they sign a cheaper defenseman to a shorter term contract with the express purpose of NOT pushing Lohrei to a top 4 role before he’s remotely prepared to do it. I like Lohrei and believe he will EVENTUALLY will develop into a solid 2nd line defenseman, but I’d be happy if it is within the next two calendar years. Development at the NHL level on lower lines is generally preferable.</div></div>
I think we’re kind of saying the same thing. I don’t expect Lohrei to play the full season next year, just a bit more than he did this year. Maybe it makes more sense to get a better LD and let the current guys playing center to carry on? This ACGM was made to feel out Bruins fans’ thoughts on Swayman trusting the organization to extend the tandem as long as possible! Fantasy more than reality LOL 😂
