As much as I’d love Mercer on the Jets, no way the Devils take that.

2 coaches in Jersey didn’t rate him. Got passed for team Sweden.

He’s a low pace player and not good at defence.
Analytics dont rate him either.

Low pace player or undisciplined? I haven’t seen him effectively forecheck which makes him less appealing to contenders

To me, Mercer is the best of the bunch and after last year, I’m not sure which year is the anomaly one between two years ago and this past year. I think it’s this past year and he’s better than he showed

He was a rookie and played 82 games this year Fitzgerald has stated many times he truly believes Holtz can be in his words a "pillar" of the devils organization but has also grilled him for not having a good year. He's very much a boom or bust player but to say he's getting scratched game 10 is crazy

Mercer's year was very chaotic and played a lot of time with bad players and still managed to score 20 I think in his prime he's a 30 and 30 utility forward who can play anywhere. But with all that said Casey IMO should be the most valuable one here unreal skating and puck skills truly elite upside

I like Seamus Casey, but I think the comparable in terms is spot on. Hes not the highest value player on this list, but he’s a nice offensive RHD who may be passable enough on defense to become a real asset.

I’m very wary of any smaller Dman. The last time 2 of those players got moved for value , they weren’t good. Brannstrom or Ty Smith

Smith wasn't a great skater and neither are as dynamic as Casey. I wouldn't be looking to trade him and his ELC anyway

Casey is actually good defensively and the analytics match the eye test

Being good at Michigan against Big 10 competition is one thing. Curious to see how he does against AHL competition

I’m a fan of his game, but I think you are overstating his value compared to Mercer.

Could be I just believe in Casey rarely the skating and skill combination he has doesn't work out, and I'm always picking RD over anything other than a true C in terms of asset

He is frankly excellent on both sides of the puck. The size is obviously a concern and he’s not a sure thing, just like any prospect, but he’s willing to be physical, an excellent skater, and strong defensively.

And he should be brought up patiently with no rush. AHL this year, 3rd pairing next year, and go from there with his development. We don’t need him to be a superstar, like for example a bunch of MTL fans are expecting lane Hutson to be

You think he’s worth more than Mercer? I would take Casey for Ullmark. I’ve told you that in the past

Yeah … it was a comparative measure.

I’d do Ullmark for Casey. Would you?

If he was who Boston demanded or they send him to the west or another team, I would reluctantly accept. If there was another way to get it done using our 2025 1st I would much prefer it. Would absolutely hate to see Casey go
