We dont need a player like this though, it would be nice but its not like we are one piece away or anything. If it doesnt make sense for us, there is no urgency to make a deal.

Basically the deal is one of Demidov/Levshunov/Lindstrom + KJ for Brady which is probably close value wise. I do think if Brady was available there would be a ton of teams sending in offers though, but this would definitely be one of the better ones.

KJ as the centerpiece is horrible for ottawa, they’d never go for that. Laine is worthless to us , we don’t want him

If the Canes are unable to fill 3LD in UFA or they don’t think that one of Smith/Seeley/Fensore, etc is ready for full time NHL minutes, they might swoop back on Provorov with half retention. That being said, it would probably need to be closer to 75% retained if the Canes were going to entertain moving for Provorov.

It seems like the sense needs some offense. There are too many gritty guys to score in the playoff. You need KJ and Laine to help with that.

I would like the jackets to target Brady in a trade but I will gladly keep Kent Johnson and draft one of demidov, levshunov, or lindstrom. Lindstrom could very well end up being a center version of Brady or close to it and would be younger cheaper

I frankly think Tkachuk would bring a toughness dimension to the team that it's presently lacking. Three high priced wingers in general isn't great, but at lest with this one there's a diversity of skill. And Ottawa badly needs him to stick around, so skimping on the 4th overall is not going to be an option.

I don't know if I'd want Tkachuk badly enough to make that commitment - I keep waffling back and forth - but if this is what it took it would be acceptable.
