To all the fake leaf fans thinking they get anything for marner

Description
Everyone trading Marner on here as if they have a say in what they get. Marner has a NMC. Marner decides where he goes, not the leafs, its no bidding war on the guy. If Marner decides its time to move on, hes not just gonna say “welp anywhere sounds good”, hes going to want to be on a contender. Lets say as an example carolina is the team he picks, and only them. Best the leafs are getting are a second rounder and a possible lineup guy/ prospect, or Carolina says no and trys there luck with him in free agency.
These “Leaf fans” making these trades have no idea what they are even talking about making them. Like myself, people making these trades are fed up with the loses, but this aint the fix if u still want to be at least a competitive team. Ride it out, let the cap rise, run it back, again, and pray. Go leafs go

I think TOR loses every Marner trade..... except, perhaps one. I think they could take advantage of the new owner in Utah, if they can convince Marner to do it. They get Durzi back in return, and obviously more. Maybe Marner goes for it to be the top dog in a new stage. It's gotta be old doing the same thing every year, no? I think it's the only thing that could make sense for both sides. Still, with Marner being from the area and being in complete control, it's almost impossible. I'd be shocked if they didn't at least ask him, though.

I agree 100%. And in line with what you say, When did anyone report that Marner wants out of Toronto? All I've read is how much he wants to re-up there. If he doesn't want to go, his NMC kinda puts a damper on any attempt to move him. And the only places that he's likely to want to go don't have the cap room without massive roster structure to absorb his cap hit. Teams in low-tax jurisdictions like Tampa or Florida or Dallas or even Nashville can't swallow him. Contenders like the NY area teams or Colorado or Edmonton can't fit him in.

I think that you're right and Marner isn't going to bring the windfall jackpot return half of Leafs Nation is convinced will soon descend on them.

The Marner fanbois aren't coping well.

You can make anyone waive an NMC if they have any pride. You make it very clear they are no longer in your team's plans moving forward. And the Leafs may very well lose any Marner trade, but he sure as hell is going for more than a second-rounder. Look at the Eichel trade. Look at the Trouba trade. Look at the PLD trade. Look at the Lindholm trade. Hell, even the Tkachuk deal. Huberdeau may have sulked and disappeared in Calgary, but he was a 115-point player the season before.

He 100% chooses where and if he goes at all. Treliving is going to sit down with him first to gauge what he wants on an extension. Odds are it will probably be above what Treliving is willing to give him. Since neither side will likely give in eventually there conversation will lead to where he would be interested in playing if not for the Leafs. Marner will probably list a 3-5 teams of interest at most and Tre will approach them about a trade.

Toronto is probably lucky in this scenario as they probably have one of the best blockbuster GM's out there. The Tkachuk deal was widely viewed as a win for Calgary had Huberdeau not fallen off a cliff. The Hamilton deal was fantastic for the Flames too. And Calgary also would have landed Eichel had Stone and Pacioretty not gone on LTIR. If you are looking at Marner as his regular season performer you are going to be extremely disappointed with a return, if you are looking at him for his playoff performance then you will probably get a very solid return. Reality is it will probably be somewhere in the middle
