Gotta always root for the Devils legends when they score OTGWG's in the playoffs.

Yeah it’s just a joke.

It’s more tough because some years it’s like “yeah that guys the hart” but this year you had 4 easy hart candidates.

I woulda took out McDavid but well he’s McDavid so he deserves to be there - without him EDM crumbles. And he got 100 assists.

Nate Dog was just a dog.

Kuch got 100 assists like McDavid and carried his teams offence.

Matthews deserved to be one of the nominees...

We've never seen a player be so impactful on both ends of the ice at the same time...

No player has ever won the Rocket and be nominated for the Selke unlike hitting 100 assists...

Not Gretzky, not Lemieux, not Messier

If Carolina doesn't pay up for Brind'Amour, I think Seattle is his spot, Francis-Brind'Amour connection is strong, plus Seattle could use an amazing coach

I feel like they could've waited a but longer to sack Hakstol. He didn't do that bad of a job with a underwhelming roster in terms of talent

I think that they had success 2 years ago with a really well executed system of play. A "mid" roster but was deep and they could roll lines and everyone pretty much was interchangeable parts.

The flaw in that thinking is that once teams scouted and executed how to beat their system they became a lower mid team since they lacked the elite talent to adapt and make adjustments.

It was a great way to get competitive right away but it isn't going to get them into the next tier of teams. Big risk that they fall backwards, but Ron Francis is gambling they can get the right coach to take them to the next level without the elite talent.

Idk money talks and TOR is looking for a new HC

Like who doesnt think were gonna see the biggest coaching deal in NHL history given to that man if he goes to the market.

Carolina better pay as I would not be surprised if TOR has a 8.25m x 5 year deal waiting

Maybe he goes with the familiar guy but money talks to and thats the main sticking point with the Canes rn.

I'm a little surprised that Matthews was a finalist over McDavid, but I think McKinnon will win the Hart and TL awards. Such will be 2nd and McDavid will be a distant 3rd in Hart voting.

Not gonna lie, I'm fighting the urge to get mildly excited by the fact that it seems like every post lottery mock it there in the pundit-sphere is leaving Charlie Elick out of the first round. Maaan, I'm about to insist Army do a couple of trade ups.

Yeah, one of the two usuals. And yet I can't help but feel the Leafs will take a big forward who slips a few spots.

I think the focus is shifting now due to the fact they in 3 different drafts have come out with some nice forwards

Cowen whose been really good

Minten whose been good

Grebyonkin whose been a nice surprise

And they have already Knies, McMann, Holmberg, etc.

The need rn is Dman prospects as besides Chadwick and Niemela TOR really doesnt have much else besides a bunch of ifs and maybes

That said I still wonder if its better for TOR to trade that pick for help now. Not a rental but someone with term or an RFA who can contribute now vs. 2-3 years

Well yeah they had success but then they lost both Sprong and Geekie, and those losses hurt, and Bellemarre and Yamamoto weren't close to replacing them.

Update on NCAA bylaw 12.2.3.2.4 (which bans CHL players from NCAA) from coaches meeting this week in Florida. A majority of coaches from two conferences support amending the rule to allow CHLers (Atlantic and CCHA) but only about one-quarter of overall coaches support.

It’s a beachhead…a start.

It's gotta be Ullmark, Swayman played most of this one and there's no reason to put him back in unlike after Game 1

24 hours since lottery passed…Deadline for Ottawa to forfeit their pick. So I guess it’s 2025 or 2026.

seems fair tbh. I'd expect nothing less from the sens to try to be good the next 2 years, and it all end up crashing down.
