Matthews is the best goal scorer in the league and they just extended him. He won’t be dealt. Tavares should be allowed to leave next season as a UFA but my guess is he will get a long term deal to retire a Leaf at a much better cap hit. Rielly is past his best but with the blueline being the weakness of the team, trading him becomes a very bad idea.

Beniot and McCabe have a case to be the Leafs best pair if you watched the series. And at points Rielly was so poor to watch on the PP you’d argue he should have been swapped for McCabe who had multiple good offensive looks in the series..

Rielly is paid to be their number 1 and he did not perform well at all. Not even close to well, and is hiding behind the Marner / Core4 scape goat.

Normally you’d be right but this year, McCabe and Benoit actually played good and you could argue Edmundson was useful in his role. I don’t have any notes of Ilya Bush and whoever else was playing lol.

- A key note I recall : Rielly on multiple offensive/ neutral zone rushes made just absolutely bizarre decisions. I don’t even like the Leafs and was frustrated.

It kinda wasn’t ideal that he was the finisher on maybe 3 high danger scoring chances in game 7. That’s def not a role he will do well at, unfortunately. I’d still welcome him back on my team, and thought he played really well for Toronto.

I can understand Panthers over Bruins in 5, but no way the Hurricanes - Rangers series finishes before game 6.
