Shedding some cap in the offseason

Description
What happens if we lose in the 1st or 2nd which I feel like will probably happen

BRING BACK BROWN, he has been so good as of late and we are going to be paying him anyways (him and Perry's bonus are included in his deal)

I genuinely prefer Mcleod as a winger, play him on Drai's line

If Holloway isn't producing by the TDL or mid-season move him with your 25'1st and Bourgault for Buch

You’ll need money to cover Browns bonus - 3 million.

Trading Broberg for nothing - within the division no less - makes no sense.

Other than that, this is pretty good.

As said in the description, Browns bonus is included in his deal that's signed to him.

Broberg will probably be moved, no room in the lineup for him + he's not going to go for more than a 3rd. I picked a random team so it doesn't have to be the Kraken

Ahh, I misread that about Brown.

I can’t believe that Broberg has no value - he’s playing very well in the AHL. I think he challenges for a roster spot on the oilers next season.

Still he’s an older prospect who hasn’t cracked the NHL lineup yet so his value isn’t where it should be.

Sharks have no use for Ceci unless they can’t find a better top 4 RD in FA. So that deal isn't likely but someone will trade for him at that value.
Picking up Demello is smart to eat some of those tougher min freeing up Bouchard for more offensive situations, and he’s likely cheaper than Roy or Pesce. All in all not a bad lineup and thought process here.
My only argument is it would be nice to move Kulak, give Broberg a legit shot and have a little cap room say 1-1.15 mil for injuries.

The only issue with moving Kulak is if we are moving him we are losing his veteran presence on that back-end, he's been good in the playoffs for us and I would feel good having him in there rather than risking it with Broberg. I like the idea for having 1-1.15 in cap for injuries but in that case I'd let Foegele walk and give Lavoie a chance in the middle 6 to see if he can match his production

EDM is so much better of just keeping Broberg if the return is in the late-2nd to 3rd range.

You traded all 3 players for less than their FMV, trading Broberg and keeping Kulak doesn't follow your theme of moving cap. Ned isn't better than Pickard, DeMelo is slower than Ceci, I'm not convinced Hakanpaa is any better than Desharnais.

Is it bad that I was thinking — how can the sharks get the contract more in the $2 to $2.5 million range so he could be a flip?

I really don’t know what we (sharks) are going to do in Defense. We need help now to help with development, but more vets take up spots for younger players. We need to find a way to trade cap dumps —- Vlasic for cap dump forward. Those no trade moves are going to make that hard.

Having Ceci and Rutta gives you two RD on UFA to trade. We do have 2 4th, 6th, and 7th in 2025 to pay off a banker teams to help move some of these low return trade pieces.

Vlasic is likely still here next year and maybe bought out in his final year or Sharks let his deal play out, they need to focus on getting younger higher ceiling top 4 guys… but those are usually only grabbed in Draft or by giving up a hefty price. I’m not 100% sure what the sharks do honestly.

I'm sorry but especially if we bow out early in the playoffs absolutely no one is taking Kane or Ceci for more than the prices I suggested. Both have been dark spots in the lineup at times this year and would be big parts of our playoff exit. Demelo brings so so so much more stability over Ceci, Josh Morriesy in Winnipeg completely transformed his game once he was paired with Demelo. Demelo is not only better than Ceci but would make Nurse so so much better. He would be such an upgrade for us. Hakanpaa is just in the scenario where Desharnais is priced out of our range to 2 million + which I believe he will be. Pickard has been good but I just have the personal preference of Ned, he's shown more flashes of being a 1B while Pickard has just been a backup. If we get into the playoffs we are going to need someone like Kulak on the bottom pairing, he has been so good for us the last couple years when need be and it would be great to continue that. I don't know if I trust Broberg to be that kind of guy in the playoffs for us, maybe it is better to keep him but I think we move him and that's what his value is
