Yeah I mean Vegas will 99% be fine but them missing the playoffs would just be an hilarious scenario haha.

Btw the golden knights are in the last WC Spot right now. Anyone else hoping they somehow miss the playoffs lmao. That would be golden.

Ruhwedel is gonna be able to sometimes play on the 3rd pair sometimes scratch. Fair deal, slight NYR W.

I think it tells you a lot about both teams that the Buffalo Sabres captain is now going to be a Florida Panthers healthy scratch. Still good pickup by Florida.

(WSH/CAR) - Kuznetsov for 2025 3rd (CAR)
Fair deal. For CAR, there's nothing to lose by trying to get Kuznetsov to anything close of what he's capable of and that could be huge for them. For WSH, they gain cap space and assets for the offseason. Kinda sad for Ovechkin, losing one of his old caps buddy.

Surprising deal. This VGK team will be absolutely stacked in the playoffs. Surprised they didn't have to pay more than that, espacially with the retention + division rival. Wow.

What a great trade for CAR. Guentzel is a perfect fit there, they needed that cluch performer and that natural goal scorer. Waddell masterclass without having to give up neither one of there top prospect too.
I think it's good for PIT too honestly but they need to re-tool because those are the last few years of Crosby. The pens situation will be so interesting there seems to be a lot of conflicted things there.
Fair deal and wow.

(ARI/EDM) - Stecher, 2024 7th (BOS) for 2027 4th (EDM)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Andy_Dick</b></div><div>Stecher is a fine depth add. Any trade for Savard would need cap out like Cody Ceci.
I much rather they go after Buchnevich as they still need top6 help as Henrique is better suited on the third line.
Seravelli saying Armstrong wants two 1sts equivalent and a roster player.
A 2025 1st, Broberg, 2024 2nd and Foegele should get it done at half retained for 2 playoff runs, I think, is well worth it!</div></div>
Why does Edmonton need so much offense? I really think it's that top 4 guy that's missing but they have enough star power on offense no?

Stetcher is a +5 in 47 games with Arizona which is insane so he can probably be great on the 3rd pair for Edmonton. The oilers are only missing that top 4 d-man. Maybe they go after Savvy?

(ANA/MTL) - Perreault for Mysak
As a habs fan, part of me is happy and the other part of me is sad.
It kinda sucks to lose Mysak, I had such high hopes for him before and I think he could end up being a 4th line C.
On the other end, Jacob Perreault is a former 1st round pick in 2020 and he's from Montreal. On top of that he has only 2 less points than Mysak and played 17 less games than him.

(SEA/NYR) - Wennberg for 2024 2nd (NYR), 2025 4th (DAL)
Better than nothing for the NYR and I think Wennberg will be a great 3C but I would have matched the Edmonton offer and gotten Henrique if I was Drury.
Good trade for SEA too, that's a great return.
Fair deal.

I feel like EDM should have went after Hanifin, Seeler or Walker instead of Henrique. However this is better than nothing and McDavid/Draisaitl/Henrique/McLeod might be the best center depth in NHL.
Good for ANA getting a 1st for Henrique
Good for TBL getting an asset for a potential trade as lack of assets are a bigger problem than cap space for them.
Overall, fair deal.

(COL/PHI) - Johansen, 2025 1st (COL) for Walker, 2026 5th (PHI)
Fair deal, Avs dump Johansen and replace him with Mittlestadt while getting Walker who's going to be a perfect fit for them as defensive D-mans are valuable. 5th round pick is the cherry on top.
As for the flyers it's crazy good for them. The Provorov trade was absolutely amazing for them.

(VGK/WSH) - 2024 2nd (VGK), 2026 4th (VGK) for Mantha
Great trade for VGK, Anthony Mantha is going to bring so much energy to that VGK offense.
As of WSH, tbh I don't really value the return that much. A late 2nd round pick basically has low chances of making into the NHL and neither does a 2026 6th round pick, just think they should have re-signed him instead.

Oh yikes. I mean still why not try him for NJD. I bet he can still play better than Brendan Smith or he can atleast be a 7th d-man. Thank you for pointing out he played at forward tho.

(ANA/CAR/TOR) - Lyubushkin for Slepets for 2025 3rd (TOR), 2024 6th (TOR)
ANA has the biggest W in this trade because of great asset mangagement technically turning a 4th from aquiring Ilya Lyubushkin to a 3rd.
This is a good trade for TOR. as long as Ilya Lyubushkin is used as a 7th d-men and is a good locker room guy too.
Why did CAR do this?? They should be buying and not add extra cap + they only got a 6th for retaining. And also this is a cup contending rival they're retaining for...

Underrated trade for NJD ngl, Kurtis MacDermid has been good defensively this season according to stats, he can go on the 3rd pair and improve there defensive defense. Not bad by any means for the avs tho getting a 22 year old center playing in the KHL.

(CGY/DAL/NJD) - Tanev for Grushnikov, 2024 2nd (DAL), 2026 4th (DAL), 2026 3rd (DAL) for Brady
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgibb10</b></div><div>If NJD goes in buying with cap space they'll go into LTIR anyway.
basically the options were either:
clear cap space to accrue enough space to cover bonus overages
or
use LTIR as much as possible this year.
Using dougie LTIR we still have all the cap space we could ever need for an offseason (Yes, including bringing in BOTH Hanifin and Markstrom unretained without sending back cap if we wanted).
Assuming Bastian and Vanacek come back we will have 11 mill in available cap space with a 21 man roster (so can bring in 2 guys adding up to that)
If bastian and Vanacek move to LTIR we will have 14 mill in cap space with a 21 man roster</div></div>
Oh right, I forgot Hamilton was on LTIR, thank you for reminding me that. Makes much more sense now.

Wow what an insane trade for Dallas. Defensive RD's like Tanev are so important on cup winning teams. And to get him with 75% retention too? If Oettinger gets hot, watch out...
As for CGY, if it's for such a bad return, why not keep him for the playoffs race? I mean it's not all bad tho, Artem Grushnikov could turn into something decent.
Why are NJ retaining? They're just wasting a retention spot + cap space for a potential move.

(PIT/CBJ) - Nylander, 2026 6th (PIT) for Bemström
Imo this is a fair deal. Both players needed a change of scenery. While the pens get the better player, they could have claimed Bemstrom for free on waivers so I guess it's a fair deal overall and a W for both teams.

Toronto Maple Leafs signed Auston Matthews (4 Years / $13,250,000 AAV)
Am I the only one that thinks Toronto just missed a chance to change the culture?
Instead of sending a message and trading one of the core 4 for assets, they are handing them big contracts. I just don't understand why they believe in this core so much when they simply fail to show up year after year when it matters. They failed at sending a message and changing the culture imo.
