The best they can do without major roster surgery

Not trying to re-sign Zadorov or Myers?</div></div>
It sounds quite likely that Myers will be back at a discounted rate, but I think some team is going to overpay Zadorov in free agency. I'd love to have him back on the roster, but unless he can consistently play like he did in the playoffs he won't be worth the huge deal he's going to get.

Trading EP40
Don't think VAN would consider that trade, but it's a conversation starter if they value Byram highly. Given the team's trajectory I think a Cozens/Byram package would be more to their liking, but I highly doubt they're considering trading EP anyway. Hard to replace guys like that.

Fair Marner trade according to Seravelli
Seravelli has apparently decided he's purely going for clickbait headlines this offseason. He's had some incredibly bad takes meant to stir things up.

VAN should definitely pass on that trade with the Canes. Maybe if they threw in Kochetkov, but even then it's probably not worth it. Demko is a massive difference-maker for the Canucks.

I feel the same. Apparently his camp is holding out for $8m, but I don't see any team going that high.

Cheers, but I actually took the trade from another post, haha. If Hronek would sign that deal then VAN would've already got the deal done. I think it will come in at $7.5 AAV on a longer deal.

A couple trades from other ACGMs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Canucks33</b></div><div>I really hope we don't end up having to move Hronek. He was really good for us all year (yes I know his production dropped) and showed well in the Playoffs (yes I know the lack of production there too). It was his first time in the Playoffs as well and I think he can grow with our core from the experience. If we can't get him under 7.5M long term I'd try to bridge him for 2-3 years at around 6M. If that doesn't work then he has to go.</div></div>
The alternative here is to spend the assets to dump Mikheyev so the team can lock up Hronek. I'm not opposed to it as long as the price is right on his contract, like you said.

I think the Canucks make that deal. Out of the two they'd rather have Mikheyev on the roster, but shedding the second year of this contract is probably too good to pass up.

Hronek TRUE Value
I agree that Hronek is a very good Dman, and AFP's forecast of 7 x $7.5ish seems about right to me. A lot of people are trying to run him out of town because of down stats and his comments at the end of the season, but he'll be a very difficult player to replace. Ideally he signs at $7.5m or less on a long-term deal and shows he can anchor his own pair with a guy like Soucy. That would be way more valuable to the team if he and Hughes can anchor different pairings.
If he holds firm at the $8m AAV ask I'm pretty sure Allvin will try to trade him though.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>batman</b></div><div>Would add a top4 dmen to replace with Cole and a middle 6-9 winger while trading or bumping down Mikheyev.</div></div>
Ideally neither Cole or Mikheyev is back. But Mik may be hard to trade. Cole was surprisingly good for most of the season, and I think he was likely playing hurt in the playoffs. I agree he wasn't good in the postseason, but some of that was bad luck too. I'd only consider bringing him back on a one year deal, but if they could find a better player for that money I'm all for it.

I figure moving Mikheyev's contract will take about a 2nd, so throwing in Celebrini for a late pick to help sweeten the deal to the Sharks is pretty smart IMO. Sharks can sell the brother angle.

I would personally add up to a 2nd rounder to make this happen. I know I'm in the minority of Canucks fans that seem to want to take a flier on Kotkaniemi, but I think he could still develop into a good 3C at minimum. And if he really doesn't pan out his buyout is dirt cheap. To me it's a risk worth taking.

Most Canes fans on here are quick to point out that Necas is a much better winger than center.

After The Presser
You could be right about all of the remarks in the description. But zero chance Reinhart signs in VAN for $9m after the season he just had. He MIGHT sign for close to that in Florida with no state taxes, but he's going to get P.A.I.D. I think a more realistic UFA winger target for VAN is Toffoli, but I also wouldn't rule out Lindholm returning if the team feels the price is right.

There will be lot of teams interested in Tanev as a free agent, and I think his price before the playoffs was already more than what you've got here. I'm guessing it will be in the 5.5 range now.

I've seen the Hronek-for-Chychrun idea batted around on here a couple times. In the end it doesn't make a ton of sense for VAN as Chychrun is apparently not good on the right side of the ice, which is where the Canucks' bigger need is.

This is why I think VAN should look elsewhere, including just the option of re-signing Zadorov. The right side is a bigger need and if Chychrun struggles there then he's probably not a fit.

I'd love it if the Canucks could get the PIT 2024 1st (14th overall) instead, but I figured a later 2025 1st and a 2024 2nd would be more palatable for the Sharks.

Michkov a year later
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lights</b></div><div>I read that there any confirmation would be made by the end of June. I wouldn't hold my breath though, as it seems some of the speculation was based off of Michkov's contract complexities with his current team due to coaching I think. Interestingly enough part of the reason for Fedotov's big extension was due to Michkov having the same agent (and subsequently getting paid a portion of what Fedotov gets). Flyers definitely are doing a good job of building the right relations, at least from afar.</div></div>
I'm hoping he makes the jump this season. Good story and it's always exciting when an elite prospect begins his NHL career.

Canes Not Expected to Bring Back Necas
Mid-season I thought there would be no way VAN makes a trade like this, but if they like Necas as a potential Petey linemate I think it's much more possible now. Hronek's been a great partner for Hughes, but I think he's more versatile in who he can play with. Petey clearly needs at least one skill guy on his line to get the best out of him.
