One's a lefty and the other is a righty, and you play 3 of each of those guys not just one. Makes zero sense at all.

Hawks Offszn
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GoofyFoFoofy</b></div><div>I mean going by comparable trades I think he's definitely worth a late 1st, or equivalent value if you wanna give a 2nd + a late pick instead, cause it's not like the Rangers HAVE to trade him.</div></div>
Just saying the hawks aern't interested at that price. Also curious what comparable trade you think there is that comps him at a late 1st. He's going into year 6 in the NHL - 117 pts in 300 career games. 9 pts in 42 playoff games and can't stay in the lineup. Sure he's a good defensive forward but you don't pay a 1st for that

Bowman is long gone - so the hawks don't have interest in reclamation projects anymore. Rangers fans will cope and try to tell you Kakko is still worth a 1st, but all i'll say is the hawks aern't moving 34th Oa+ for him

Trying to Fix the Qweafs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SociallyHawkward</b></div><div>Would you rather pay jones 6x9.5 or marner 8x over 12 mil plus 1 mil in retention on jones? Hawks are extremely short on RD and have an abundance of small wingers. I'd rather just ride out the jones contract that looks better every year the cap goes up and draft demidov than trade for marner, giving him all the power in contract negotiations. Especially after he's shown how much he cares about money in his past contract negotiations.</div></div>
The extension would have to be agreed to within the trade like I said, and I also only think you make this move if you plan to take Levshunov. Marner probably cost's 12M in Toronto but just bailing on Canada taxes saves him 1.5M or so coming to the US. Say the deal is 11M x 8 and we take Levshunov then I think this deal makes sense. Of course it woudl make more sense to just do it in free agency and keep your assets but that is the perfect world not the realistic one. I don't even really want Marner on the hawks but this particular deal makes more sense for Chicago than Toronto

Nobody is giving you a 4th for Timmins. You'd be lucky to get a 7th and even that might be overpaying.</div></div>

Hawks accept this I think as long as Marner is coming extended. Leafs don't

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>exo2769</b></div><div>Would you rather pay this price for Necas or try for Jake as a UFA? It's just a tough spot to put yourself in if you're rebuilding. Trading draft capital away while you're still at the bottom. I would understand trading picks away for a 25 year old forward on the rise...once we're on the rise. Not before.</div></div>
Necas fits the timeline better. In a perfect world you probably go for Jake and keep the assets but realistically Jake isn't signing with us. He can get 8-9M from a contender. The way I see it is CAR should ask themselves that question.... Do we take these assets for Necas and sign Jake or let jake walk and pay Necas

Makes a ton of sense
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JK74</b></div><div>I would assume the premise behind this offer is that a) you can't afford to extend him and b) this trade offers you a chance to restock the cupboard with a few solid picks and a swiss army knife in Donato. If I were Carolina I'd counter with replacing Donato with Dickinson half retained but I think Chicago wouldn't bite at that. Just my $.02 though.</div></div>
A and B are correct on top of point C of Necas being a bad fit for their super defensive minded system where they ask a top of the forwards and him wanting out because of it
