I did, and he makes some points. I think for him it's more about projection than current ability (which is also good). I've seen him up and down on lists. He's got the tools, and Davidson likes tools. At the end of the day, if Davidson thinks he's the 2nd best player in the draft and picks him, I'll be on board with it.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Garak</b></div><div>Oh ok. Gotcha. I really hope CHI doesn't take Levshunov. <a href="https://youtu.be/iGNKAF8U4Zk?feature=shared" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">THIS</a> pretty accurately explains why I don't want to use a 2nd overall on him. There will be guys later in this draft, in future drafts, free agency, and available through trade, if and when we need to target a big RD.
IMO, there is a gap between Celebrini and Demidov, and then a BIG drop off after that without much change in the caliber of player you are getting through most of the 1st round. In most drafts, you can get guys like Levshunov anywhere from 10th overall through the early 2nd round.
Even if he is guaranteed to become a superstar, it is not imperative that our 1RD is a superstar. CHI's superstar dman could easily already be in our system and could be a lefty. In which case, we just need solid RD's who can eat minutes. There are a lot of RD's with that kind of potential in the late 1st round through the 2nd round this year. I actually like Emery and Brunicke more than I like Levshunov. I also like Buium more than I like Levshunov, even if he is a left shot.
I think he is a good and intriguing young RD, but he is also overrated because of his size and handedness, and probably doesn't belong in the top 10 of the average NHL draft.</div></div>
Yeah I mean I just think it comes down to at 2 OA you have to go BPA regardless of position, and I think that's demidov. There are some intriguing defensive prospects to be had at 20 and 34, if Davidson pleases. Rinzel's development has been nice. Like you said, plenty of teams win the cup without a superstar defenseman. The Avalanche are pretty much an outlier. I'd call guys like Hedman and Petro stars, but not superstars.

I don't really like the idea of moving Dach, but I also wouldn't say he is unavailable.</div></div>
That's fair. I don't think Barron is that guy. My initial point is also based on the post assuming the Hawks take Levshunov with the Habs having Demidov.

The thing that makes this rumor absolute nonsense is that to the Leafs, Foligno is a cap dump. A bad contract. But the Hawks have no reason to dump his contract because <strong>we dont need cap space</strong>. So why would we pay to dump him? It just doesnt make any sense for either team

Re-Build On the Fly
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hawksguy81</b></div><div>Well I guess if you think that Turcotte is so much closer to being a top 6 F than Dach is, you're entitled to your opinion. Don't think there will he too many folks in that boat with you. Dach definitely has enough skill to grow into a 2nd line winger. He's already a better shooter than big bro Kirby. And only one year as a pro at this point. It's way too early to move on from Dach if you're the Hawks.</div></div>
I guess for me, I don't see it as "moving on" from Dach here. I'm not advocating to trade him for nothing. You're using an asset to gain a better asset. Sometimes it takes guys a little bit longer to get going than others. You're seeing it in Lafreniere this postseason. Carter Verhaeghe didn't start popping off until he was 25. Now I'm not saying he's going to be carter verhaeghe, but there is a reason he was a top 5 draft prospect. He had his flashes this season. With some consistency and some playing time, who knows. I just don't see that same upside in Dach.

Re-Build On the Fly
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hawksguy81</b></div><div>Gonna disagree as well. Dach is a big body who likes to mix it up along the boards and go to the front of the net. Hawks are woefully short of that organizationally. Turcotte is approaching reclamation project status. Hawks have multiple players now with his same skill set who have just as much upside. Don't see this as a W for the Hawks in any way.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CoachQ</b></div><div>Respectively disagree. Turcotte hasn't come near his upside yet, either in Ontario or LA. He's going to need to be a top six player, and he hasn't shown the ability to do that in the NHL yet (I understand he's behind Kopitar, Danault and Dubois). I know that Dach has had injury concerns, but he's slated to be a middle six forward who's willing to go to the front of the net, which the Hawks need more than another speedy center.</div></div>
I'll never understand the Dach glazing. We quite literally have 2 guys on the team right now who have the same profile as Dach in Slaggert and Entwistle and like 3 more sitting in Rockford.
I saw someone say it with regards to the Leafs with their situation and I whole heartedly agree. You don't need star players AND guys who can play with grit, you need star players who play with grit. Turcotte, while he probably doesn't turn into a superstar at this point, still has the chance to be a top 6 guy with the sandpaper you need on a playoff run. Dach will never be a top 6 guy.

Colton Dach doesn't have the same upside as Turcotte, and has had his own injury concerns the past couple years to boot. Dach and a 3rd for Turcotte would be a win on our end

I mean I'd be interested if he could be had for cheap, but the Kings would be selling based on potential, and it's probably not worth it at this point in the rebuild spend resources on unrealized potential.

Yeah I mean even lumping forwards in together as a whole, you see what's happened with reichel, development isn't guaranteed. You never know who's gonna top out as a 3rd liner or who's gonna make it through. Nazar and Moore are off to good starts in their development but you just never know. You need that blue chip elite prospect that you feel confident penciling in there for the next 15 years.

I love Demidov
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>WhoCares_ItsAFantasyGame</b></div><div>I'm not going to criticize the trade itself, but look at it and wonder why.
I'm thinking that this would go through only if CHI want a defenseman and accept to pass on another forward, even if it's Demidov. They may want to increase their blue line skills in order to set Bedard's future team and ensure a better set of defensive players, hence pick one of the many that will still be there at 5th. On that note, they may comeback and ask for Barron, Harris, Kovacevic, Struble OR Mailloux to be added to the deal, but they would remove one of the WIN or CGY picks to replace it with one of these players. Also, depending on which player it is, HABS may remove one of those first, but provide a 2nd or 3rd instead.</div></div>
If the Hawks wanted a defenseman, they would just take Levshunov at 2, they're not going to trade down and risk him not being there at 5. Either way, Davidson is going to draft his guy. It's going to take a massive overpay to get him out of 2.

I understand the thought for the Chicago trade, but if we aren't sold on Demidov I imagine they would just take Levshunov instead of trading down. Either way unless you significantly overpay I don't think Davidson trades out of 2

Get Grit trade pick
Even if Dickinson and Buium would project better than Vlasic, it would not fit our timeline better. I can't imagine that would send a great message to Bedard to say that "hey we developed this guy who is massive and has the potential to be one of the better defensive defensemen in the league but we traded him for 10 OA so we can stay bad for another couple years."
BTW i'm gonna need you guys to be good next year. I was planning on whipping out my Jack Hughes jersey this spring and am very disappointed to not be doing so!

Yes, that is true, but the point is that our current D core already has size, so adding more size to the back end doesnt really solve an issue then. I could see that being a point made if you're targeting Lindstrom.

I agree that RD is a need for the Hawks, but you are INCREDIBLY incredibly far off about size on the future D-core. Korchinski is 6'2, Vlasic is 6'6, Del Mastro is 6'4, Sam Rinzel is 6'4... We got size. We just need some real top pairing guys to emerge
