Arizona Coyotes signed Sam Lipkin (3 Years / $851,667 AAV)
Not bad for a seventh round pick. I guess he's playing on an ATO in Tucson to finish the year.
Feel a little bad for the Bobcats with all the talent that's left in the past few days.

This wouldn't surprise me, but I also wouldn't be stunned if a team with plenty of space gave up something for a 6'2", 23 year old NHL center. Not a lot because of the contract, but it just takes one GM to think they can build him up.

No thanks on Sheary. We've got Carcone to play that role for the league minimum next year, and he's got 19 goals in 66 games. We're covered on small, skilled, energy guys in the bottom six. No desire for that contract.

They need a D who can eat minutes. Also, you forgot to resign Hayton which makes Blueger redundant. But you didn't do anything crazy, so good job.

Player doesn't have to play and the team doesn't have to make him play. He just can't be on the LTIR. Activate him and sit him if you don't think he's ready to play but think he will be for the playoffs.

They should just say if you are on LTIR (as opposed to regular IR) at anytime in the last two weeks of the season, then you are ineligible for the first two weeks of the playoffs. Won't completely plug the hole because the cap prorated for a week won't be much, but it would help stop the teams several million over the cap whose players magically return ready for game 1.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HockeyScotty</b></div><div>The NHLPA would/should want it so they can actually get all the teams to max their cap
There is plenty of cap space that doesn't get used every year already despite the cap dumps; about $50 million this year.</div></div>
That's what the escrow system is for. The players get 50% of the HRR regardless of what cap space is used or not used. The salaries are tied to revenue, not cap or even the specific dollar amounts in their contract. If the NHL had an unexpected amazing season (financially) and had not adjusted the cap accordingly, then players would conceivably make more money than their contracts. As it happens, the NHLPA consistently votes to keep raising the cap regardless of the revenue situation, so they are constantly ****ing about the escrow taking "their" money.
But if every dime of cap was spent every year by every team, the players collectively still make the same amount of money that season.

Pizza Boy Cooks Up
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NYRxLundqvist</b></div><div>Why do so many people wanna get rid of lindgren</div></div>
Probably because he's going to be looking at an extension that walks him to UFA or ask that you pay for his UFA years on a long-term extension. And the Rangers have relatively good depth on D to potentially replace him soon. Easier to make the decision to move on in those circumstances. (I am not saying they should replace him or shouldn't extend him long-term. I am just guessing that's why people are increasingly moving).

Lindgren, Schneider, M. Robertson, and K'Andre would all be of interest to AZ. I can't see them moving 23 year old Moser to get the older Lindgren who they'd have to buy UFA years on an extension. I don't think they are in the market for a Goodrow dump, either.

Going For It
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Irvine80</b></div><div>Robertson is built for the top 6 but only gets bottom 6 minutes because its the Leafs. He would breakout in a rebuilding market and is a much better player than people give him credit for. Lilly is worth a 2nd</div></div>
There's no room in Arizona's top six for him. I'd argue there's no room in the top nine. He's undersized, a bit one-dimensional, and he's about to have to pass through waivers to get sent down to cook. "Built for the top six" is a very polite way of saying you can't use him in the bottom of the lineup, and that he hasn't earned top six minutes or carved out a niche in Toronto.
Keller, Schmaltz, Maccelli, Crouse, and Guenther are going to get those minutes. Carcone is a very similar player who has more goals than Robertson has points from the bottom of the line up. Kerfoot is useful on the PK and can lineup anywhere; he isn't losing his spot.
The one wing spot left for the fourth line isn't where Robertson should be breaking into the league. Arizona already has young players (Doan, Jenik, Smith, Geekie, Raty, etc) who can fit into the bottom of the line up and ease into top six or nine roles next year.
He needs a team like San Jose that can let him grow and has spots up for grabs. Similar to when they picked up Zadina. I don't think anyone is going to offer too much for him at the moment. He just hasn't proven enough and his injury history is concerning when you're only 5'9" and you've lost that much time already at age 22.
He is absolutely talented enough to make teams regret passing on him one day, but I'd take my chances passing on him. The team with the best book on him hasn't made room for him and the fans see the writing on the wall. I imagine they have similar concerns.

Stuff
Hayton has clanged more pipes than most plumbers this year. Extremely snakebit. He's Arizona's Steve Rucchin doing the dirty work, working the boards, screening goalies, and playing well defensively. He has obvious chemistry with Keller and Schmaltz and enough skill and speed to not look out of place. The sum is greater than the parts even if he's "not a real 1C". That line is extremely more effective with him on it, which is why no-one else has grabbed that spot.
I would be shocked if they moved him given how thin they are at center. Having said that, depending on how contract talks go, he wasn't an Armstrong pick, so maybe they are not as attached to him as they would be otherwise. But barring outrageous contract demands, I'd have to think they keep him. Trading him creates another hole on a roster with plenty of holes already. And because of his toolbox, he's the perfect candidate to move up and down the lineup even if they find an upgrade.
ETA: nothing against Krebs still fighting to carve out his niche at this level, and who is a decent prospect/player who will probably improve, but Hayton is a whopping five months older. I don't see why AZ would trade the guy they know works with their best player. It's not like Hayton has more NHL experience to grab his chance, either.
200 gp: 19-43-62
209 gp: 35-49-84
Hayton has shot between 10 and 20% every year until this year where he's shooting 4.5%. Krebs looks snakebit this year at 4 something percent, too.

TLDR: The fact that every top six forward on the Sabres is struggling and is on their last healthy bone doesnt suddenly mean Crouse is better than what he is.</div></div>

Because he's cooked, man. The team that got the best look at him playing in the A, whose coach is his best friend, took a look and said, "nope, that isn't going to help".
Loveable guy, but he was gassed 15-20 seconds into shifts in Arizona. He's a couple years older now.

Seems like a lot going for Bunting, even though you're dumping Fabbri on them, so maybe not.
You could probably get Boqvist for a third. He's hurt too often and there are holes in his game.
AZ traded a second for McBain and he has shown he plays heavy and can play up and down the lineup. If he was worth a second to them then, he hasn't done anything to make him worth less to them today. Certainly won't move him for yet another third when they have 30-something picks in the top three rounds imo the next three drafts.
