Matheson has done a great job on the first unit. The second unit is a total disaster.

(SJS/VGK) - Hertl, 2025 3rd (SJS), 2027 3rd (SJS) for Edstrom, 2025 1st (VGK)
Is Edstrom really that good of a prospect? This looks like Grier should be fired.

This trade makes no sense and I'm here for it!

Anaheim Ducks signed Leo Carlsson (3 Years / $4,200,000 AAV)
For the sake of the Ducks, he should really be the 3C this season. The bottom of their roster is filled with AHL players so hopefully a handful of young guys get a shot at a job.

Eastern conference prediction
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>My argument is that the Rangers finishing 2nd last year was the weird thing happening. They're not as good as CAR, PIT. Strome to Trocheck is a lateral move. They lost Copp, Vatrano, Braun, Georgiev, Lundkvist. I just think they are ripe for regression.</div></div>
Copp, Vatrano and Braun were rentals and overall, not that important to the Rangers' regular season success (14-7-1 in last 22 games compared to 38-17-5 first 60 games). Georgiev has regressed every single year in New York and Shesterkin has been nothing but elite overall whereas Freddy bounced back after a horrendous year in Toronto. Lundkvist did almost nothing for New York, they have 3 better RD than him currently on the roster.
As for regression, they absolutely could. They weren't a great 5v5 team. I am choosing to bet on their progression, or at least maintaining about 110 pts to win the division. Ever heard of betting on an underdog?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>Why so low on Carolina yet so high on a team with FAR more uncertainty in the Rangers?</div></div>
For example, the Islanders 2 AND 3 seasons ago, made the semi-finals and were Tampa's toughest challenge 2 seasons in a row. Last year, they fell off a cliff because stuff happened and now no one is projecting them anywhere close to the top with a similar roster to what they've had.

Eastern conference prediction
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>I cannot see it. Even if Freddie falls off a cliff, Raanta is capable of taking the load and he showed that last year. Kochetkov is still there too. I don't get that. New York's right-wing right now consists of Blais, Kravtsov, Kakko, and Hunt. Not even that because Kravtsov is hurt. I just find it really weird that you're not going to trust a 22-year-old- center to break into the 2C role, but a 20 & 21-year-old winger that has not shown as much development as Kotkaniemi are going to break through? I just think this is cherry-picking. I'd swap NYR and Carolina. Kreider isn't going to hit 50 again, and that's not a strong Rangers offense. Their defense is somewhat okay, but not great (defensively, it's great for scoring, but that doesn't matter). Shesterkin was great last year, but he had major issues the year before that. You have doubts about Freddie, who has a career .918, but believe Shesterkin is going to have another career year? It just seems so weird to me.</div></div>
Dude, on average Carolina is likely better. But in this particular "universe" or "simulation" the Rangers finish ahead. It's not that deep. Weirder stuff happens EVERY SINGLE YEAR.

Because stuff happens. I don't trust Kotkaniemi or Staal (to an extent) as 2C as well as not trusting Freddy for a repeat performance. I am also betting on Lafreniere and Kakko to finally prove themselves. Doesn't mean I don't like the Canes and I can absolutely see them coming first. Also betting on a healthy Pens team is pretty suicidal in a prediction so Canes probably finish a lot higher. But again, nothing is ever as vanilla as it seems on paper so stuff happens and I felt like the Canes dropping to 5th in the conference is possible.

Drop 3 rounds (not this season), Weber is $2m more cap hit for $2m less actual money over a longer term, which helps Arizona hit the floor easier without committing as large of a financial commitment while they work their s**t out.

Petry's still too expensive at this pricepoint, and mostly because of his term.
We need the money to keep Hintz around and replace Pavelski in 2023.</div></div>
I think Dallas dumps Faksa off and then figures it out from there. Johnston and Bourque seem NHL ready so that helps the situation up front this season. All of Pavs' money will probably go straight to Hintz and Dallas can cycle vets in the bottom 6. Also, the cap will start to rise again for 23-24 so that will help the situation also. I do understand your concerns though. It's not an easy situation, these are just my thoughts on why Petry can fit with this cap hit.

He should play 15 with powerplay time to see if he can cut it as an NHLer. We tried him 2 seasons ago on the 4th line and he was atrocious, I understand he was a rookie but the difference between his NHL and AHL play has shown me that he needs to be in a larger/scoring role to play at his best.

I would rather not have Poehling in the lineup than have him at 4C. 4C could be Belzile or Paquette if Evans is at 3C. Also, I think Perreault has to be in the lineup.

Tkachuk is not worth 8M
I think he's worth 8x6.75m because he's realistically going to be their 2LW and Stutzle should surpass Brady's production and spot on the depth chart by the end of his ELC. But 8x8m is the price of being the original guy to give Sens fans hope by being one of the hardest working players in the league and actually forcing Melnyk's wallet open and, soon enough, he'll be their captain. I'm fully aware of how poorly this is worded.

Ottawa makes another BIG move with San Jose
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sensonfire</b></div><div>1. If Brannstrom is not a "top prospect", then neither is Logan Brown or Alex Formenton.
I will point out that defencemen usually take more time than forwards for developing and blossoming into quality NHL players.
It explains why Erik Brannstrom has taken more time than someone like Josh Norris, who was drafted just 4 spots apart from Brannstrom in 2017.
2. IMO, there's more reason to believe that a team like Boston, Tampa or Vegas would be on Hertl's trade list instead of Ottawa.</div></div>
1. I never said Brown and Formenton were top prospects. Brown wants out and Formenton is good enough to fill the extra needed value imo. Brannstrom is not a Drysdale or a Seider, which is what I think when I hear "top prospect." Brannstrom is closer to a Guhle or a Harley which I would think is a tier below. Maybe I'm wrong in my definition. And yeah, D definitely take longer than F to develop.
2. Yeah, but if Hertl wants out badly enough, the list becomes completely irrelevant and he'll accept a trade to wherever Wilson finds a good deal. And even if every team had an equal chance; Tampa, Vegas, Colorado, etc. all have a less than 10% chance of being on his no-trade list and then the site becomes irrelevant for theorizing major deals.
It's all in good fun.

This is more than what the Sharks are asking for.
2. Hertl has a 3 team trade list and there are 30 other teams in the NHL besides Ottawa and San Jose.
There's at least a 90% chance that Hertl does not have Ottawa on that list.</div></div>
1. You're not giving the Sharks their exact ask and Brannstrom isn't a "top prospect"
2. You could say that about any team.

2 1sts, a 2nd, and Brown who refuses to play; so despite being a former 1st rounder, isn't worth nearly that on the market. This isn't Eichel return.
