so why don't you tell me, who would he be replacing?</div></div>
Yeah, and you're not winning with him as your top center. Nelson would bump him down, but the person that would actually be scratched is a current 3rd or 4th liner. You need centers and Nelson is probably our best player. He's not going to be cheap. Rentals rarely are. Good rentals almost never are.

still don't think a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd makes any sense for rental 33 year old Nelson. Maybe just go after Stephenson or Lindholm in UFA, and if that doesn't work circle back to a normal offer for Nelson.</div></div>
I hope you can realize how you look, trying to suggest that Zacha would be scratched.

Nelson put up like 50 points over the guy he's be replacing, and Coyle can go back to the third line where he belongs.

Give them 5 years. They're all roughly 5 years from peak age, and there's picks and cap space to fill remaining slots.

Probably true.
Palmieri grew up a Rags fan, and it basically gurantees the Isles are out of the way during the compete window. Not such a crazy trade.

Just my opinion, but this team isn't good enough to justify giving up any picks for it.
Increases our cup chances from .5% to 1% tops, but gives up a year of prospects, decreasing our cup chances over the next 10 years just a much. (loosely mathing of course)

I don't know how strong this years draft pool is. So I put fair deal.

So an overpay for depth. And term. KurDis McTermid.

Isle fan here. I can't say this is necessarily bad trade for the Isles, we just wouldn't go for it. JPG is one of our strongest defensive forwards, and a key player on the PK.

Honestly, extremely good as an AHL piece too. Was captain at Boston. Educated. Long Island native. Even as an AHLer he can have an impact on the NHL roster. Great signing!

We aren't ever going to trade for Kane. He's not a locker room player. Isle's really favor community type players.

2024-25 - Isles - 5mil for a LW-UFA - Increase estimate 87mil
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dannibalcorpse</b></div><div>There's no rule against it, but it becomes an issue when you have someone who has a nagging injury that needs a night or two off - perfect example right now is Noah Dobson. You *could* put him on LTIR and free up the cap space to call someone up, but LTIR specifically states that a player must be out for 10 game or 24 days, whichever comes first. So you either have 8 extra games of Grant Hutton playing every night, or you find the way to have a couple of healthy scratches that you can rotate in and out of the lineup as necessary.</div></div>
Just exploit LTIR for room. I'm only joking if there's no way to do it. :)
Honestly, I think we should go after Monahan, and idk if we can pull it off without blowing our wad.

PLD is the perfect player to be tutored by Kopitar. This trade will eventually be viewed as the time when the Kings got "their" guy and the Jets got pieces.

Is there a rule explicitly stopping it? From what I understand 20 is the minimum. Eventually injuries will create enough cap space for another 2 players.

Young guys typically have a natural respect for older guys. This isn't an unknown phenomena. Having an older star that knows a thing or two is always going to be a good thing.

Considering cap has started to rise again, I find this acceptable.
Flat cap it would be a huge loss, but in 8 years this contract will be like 8% of the cap instead of 10%, and he could still be a roster player and a leader.
