<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Meadowportage</b></div><div>dont mind this trade for the oil. campbell still has 3 years so we would have to pay a lot.</div></div>
It's too much. Edmonton probably wouldn't pay more than the 1at to move Campbell, especially if they're being asked to take another (less) bad contract in return.
Ceci has more value than Vejmelka, so why is Edmonton kicking in a B prospect and two 2nd's? They're better off buying out Campbell, trading Ceci for a pick and re-signing Pickard. The result would be better goaltending, better cap situation and they get to keep their four best non-roster assets.

Colemans contract also isn't very appealing, wouldn't say he's a cap dump but 3 more years for someone who is going to be 33 y/o next year isn't that appealing to trade for.</div></div>
Coleman scored 30 this year, but the past 2 years had fewer than 40 points. That's relevant because he has 3 years left on his deal.
Considering his age, that's not a contract I'd want on the books.

Nurse needs a partner that can move the puck. Tanev can't do that, he's just a better Ceci.
Montour is a better fit, IMO.

CF automatically calculates the bonus money, no need for the manual input. You're counting it twice.
So you have another $3.8M to spend.

Subtle Improvements
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Letsgosharks</b></div><div>how? ig Kane comes off</div></div>
Summer of 2025:
James Neal buyout comes off the books: $1.92M
Brown / Perry bonuses come off: $3.45M
Cap rises: $4.4M
That's $9.7M, enough for a ~$4M raise for Draisaitl and a ~$5.7M raise for Bouchard.
And if that's not enough, Kane's $5.125M contract shifts from being a full NMC to a 16-team NTC next summer.
Summer of 2026:
Kane's contract ends: $5.125M
Ekholm's contract ends: $6M
Cap rises: $4.6M
That's plenty for a McDavid raise, as even if Kane and Ekholm return, they'll sign at a lower AAV due to age.

He's still a 2RD, and Dowd is still a 4C. The valuation of those two positions is not equal.

That's understandable. I thought it best to wait until training camp to determine the backup position, but I re-signed Rodrigue for this exact scenario.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tylersharpe</b></div><div> Also I wouldn't move Kulak, he's been stellar on d for us especially come playoff time</div></div>
Also understandable, but three things: 1. Edmonton needs the cap space, 2. Broberg is more than NHL ready and 3. Broberg has a much higher ceiling than Kulak.

The worse goalie comment is moot, because he will be bought out. Its simply trading for a lesser contract that is more favorable to buyout.</div></div>
Sure, and as others have said maybe that's something Edmonton entertains, but not at the cost of Broberg + 1st.
Besides, your $15M is totally false. Campbell is owed $13.5M, but since Petersen is owed $6M the savings for Edmonton are just $7.5M, not $15M.
A Campbell buyout costs $9M, a Petersen buyout costs $4M. That's a $5M difference, not $15M.
And the Campbell buyout money is spread over 6 years, Petersen's over just 2.

If the ask is higher Edmonton will just buy him out or leave him buried. As it is you're trying to get significantly more in return AND send back a worse goalie!

I don't agree with some of these - guys like McDavid, Kucherov and Marner are largely inoffensive. They play hard and are highly skilled, but they aren't dirty.
On the dirty list, I would add Perry & Doughty for sure. Maybe Zadorov.

I guess you were thinking that the Draisaitl underpay and the Campbell overpay cancel each other out?
They don't, though. Campbell can be bought out fairly easily and Drysdale doesn't bring much to Edmonton's defense corps, so that doesn't equate to the weak return for Draisaitl.
