That's got to ɓe the worst Marner to the flames yet. If we're going for marner it is to make the playoffs, how are we going to do that with Liljgren as our #1D?

Calgary does not want Marner! Toronto really doesn't have anything Calgary would trade Andersson + Weegar for unless Nylander is part of the return.

Lily would be more like the 7th D with those two gone. With them still here he be on waivers after training camp or traded for a late pick before camp.

Kylington, Miromanov, Pachal and Hanley would all be ahead of Lily on the depth chart and it's very likely so would at least 2 of the prospects.

I'm not a huge fan of the player but be realistic here. Kylignton was OK, got better towards the end of the season but we still don't know what we're getting. I like Miromanov, but his sample size is way to small to know what he going to be. Pachal is a bottom pairing d man who hits. Hanley got waived and couldn't even solidify a spot on our bottom 6 last season.

Lily is a bottom pairing D on the Leafs a team that didn't have a good D corps and he doesn't hit. Pachal and Kylington weren't bad playing 2nd pair. in Calgary Do we want better defensemen for the 2nd pair? Sure but Lily isn't the answer.

Hanley got waived by the Stars not the Flames. He was actually surprisingly good defensively in Calgary, not just on the bottom pair either. Is he a long term solution? No probably not but he's better and cheaper than Lily. Then there are all the prospects who are NHL ready or close.

On top of all that, Lily is an arbitration eligible RFA with a 1.5 mil qualifying offer or roughly double what Hanley and all the prospects make. Hard pass on Lily, he has almost no value to Calgary.

Lily played the 3rd most minutes per game of all torontos defense men. Kylignton and Pachal were our bottom pair not our 2nd. Lily averaged about half a point a game, pair him with a defensive guy and he should be fine.

After the deadline Kylington and Pachal played on the 2nd line frequently (sometimes together sometimes with someone else) and did not look out of place on a much depleted defense corps.

Lily on the other hand the Leafs keep trying to use on the 2nd pair but he isn't good enough to keep the spot even on a team as poor defensively as the Leafs. He wound up on the bottom pair again last year behind Lyubushkin and McCabe at RD. Behind Benoit too if you count LDs.

love how Guentzel is suppose to accept an underpayment of 8 mil for the pleasure of being a leaf.

Late 1st and a late 3rd two years from now for Chychrun.

Would have to think multiple teams beat that offer.
