Why would Necas return anything close to debrincat to Ottawa? Debrincat had paced for 40+ goals and 80+ points a year over the previous 3 years. Necas isn’t close to that

Necas plays in a system that strangles offense, he offers elite speed and scoring ability regardless of his linemates. He played in the bottom six most of this year and had 55 points anyway, then had 9 in 11 playoff games with Drury and Martinook. Carolina are going to want more than this, simply put

No thanks on Necas. why are we trading Bast for? you know you can just trade the 10th for the 13th and Gust? dumbies out here. Nice job of making them still soft ASF Clarke is a waste on the 4th line and Devils arent carrying 3 goalie again DUMBIE. Why do we need a 7m FWD? your special teams are TERRIBLE. So we ruining Meier for a 2nd year in a row did you not see Meier after Toff trade? guess you love throwing money away PS Sam Bennett is cheaper and does the same as Necas and more smile again keep wasting money

Umm... did you see his linemates for most of the year... a lot of the time it was Stefan Noesen and Jack Drury not exactly Jack Hughes or Nico Hischier

Don't exactly get how I'm ruining Meier if I'm keeping him on the right wing with the centerman he was playing like his normal self with towards the end of last season. I also, don't understand how the special teams are terrible, if the powerplay units may very well be the best in hockey if we had both the 1A and 1B like we tried to run at the beginning of the year last season, while the pk is about league average with decent upside banking on a Marino and Segey bounceback years. I can't trade back for Gust if the pick used for him is being used for Necas. Understand your fustration on Bast getting traded, but we did just overpay for Macdermid, so in making this I was kind of forced to get rid of one of the decently paid bottom 6 guys, and felt Bastian could be thrown in a Gustafson deal. Holding 3 goalies not only in case of injury, but mainly due to the fact that it has been reported several times that Schmido might infact want out due to lack of game time after a disappointing season. And finally, if using Clarke makes them a bit more soft, and you are truly losing sleep over it, we have another goon waiting in Utica, named Chase Stillman.

I’d rather pass on Martin Necas. Fact of the matter is that wingers will always be available as unrestricted free agents. There’s no reason to pay the cost of a trade and then have the player have all the leverage in contract negotiations.

I know this is what the devils did with Timo Meier, but they got to see him in a devils uniform before a contract had to be signed.

I think 10th overall is probably enough. Would be looking at Reinhart trade perhaps as potential comp.

At 5v5, Necas played with:

Drury ~ 370 minutes

Kotkaniemi ~ 326 minutes
Teravainen ~ 208 minutes
Noesen ~ 205 minutes
Kuznetsov ~ 203 minutes
Svechnikov ~ 164 minutes

Minnesota rejects that trade.

I think Necas is a very good player. He just didn't have the production of debrincat, who was scoring at a 45 goal 82 point/82 game pace the previous 2 years. The goalscoring and point production gap cannot be explained by linemates alone

I have him at that star- tier.

Fiala, Trouba, Reinhart, Debrincat (to detroit)

Step 1. NJD trade 10 to Vegas for 19/player
Step 2. NJD trade 19 to Calgary for 27/player
Step 3. NJD trade 27/Daws to Carolina for Necas

I think it would be something like a pick in the 20s/2025 1st+Gritysuk, and then it depends what Carolina prefers in terms of prospects/secondary assets from what teams are offering that is what they take.

I was thinking a series of cascading trades feeling in draft to add assets, then flipping later 1st for Necas. You are thinking three-way deal?

Something like that in terms of value.

I think Carolina will have a multitude of suitors offering very similar packages, and it will come down to the prospect/young player that their scouting department prefers
