If Nashville goes after Marner, which I doubt, you're not getting much on top of Askarov (if he's part of the return) - which would mean you're definitely not getting a former 1st rounder, a 1st rounder, and more on top of Askarov

What was the Askarov offer to Montreal last year? I remember there was one, but cannot remember who they asked for...

It was Askarov + #15 for the #5 pick in 2023. MTL used it to select David Reinbacher.
NSH used #15 to select Matt Wood.

Could be wrong, but i think that was it.

If NJD wants to trade Marino this deal will be here next year. We'll keep him until then

Nashville ain't doing this lol. They're trading their goalie of the future, another grade A prospect, on top of a 1st + 2nd.
Also you're sending $12M+ in cap the other way, so it wouldn't even be feasible salary-wise.

If we're trading Marner to NSH, Saros is definitely the starting point. Then go from there.

Hey delusional leaf fans didn't Stamkos running back to TB and taking an offer that was on the table for the previous 8 months tell you what he thought of playing in Toronto. He values his privacy no chance he'd be able to go to a park with his kids,.or a movie with his wife , dinner with the family playing in Toronto without someone coming and asking for a selfie or tell him how badly he sucks because he hasn't scored in 4 or 5 games or how great he is because he scored a hat trick. He may not end up in TB , however he WON'T end up in Toronto.
Edit: I See you edited it down So, he's definitely not signing there for that.

Yeah, that was the rumour. Nothing confirmed, obviously.

And that was a lesser package from NSH, for a better return for them.

This is an easy, easy pass.

If Stamkos signs for 6 odds are it's with Tampa. Whole life, legacy, and more take home after tax benefits there. Duchene probably gets more but decent chance he takes the home town discount tbh.

Better probability of the Preds moving Juuse before they consider moving Askarov tbh

Askarov is still unproven and has less trade value than Saros, and Toronto needs cap relief so he’s preferable to Saros.
Marner is a known star and would pair well with forsberg.
Take out Matt woods, add a first from Toronto but I would defend not being that far off.
Reaves can go to Chicago for Bedard insurance but I bundled him to NDH as they have a history of loving enforcers (McGratton, McCarron)
Dante Fabbro is a second pairing guy, NSH is a D man factory. Next man up and don’t let him hold back you getting a star.

Stamkos feels disrespected in TB as no extension talk. Less tax in TB but less endorsements also. As he transitions to retirement and whatever he wants next, a media presence will help him and make him more money after hockey plus he’s not the star and focus of the team.

NJ has absolute riches on the right side D. Absolutely they can keep Marino, or sell high and use picks to buy what else they need at the deadline. Toronto doesn’t have what they want but the teams that do might not want Marino.

The UFAs are all older and given extra term to pay them the total amount other teams will pay in 2 years. The last year will be overpay/LTIR whatever. But it changes locker room culture and adds depth of scoring and experience for no assets but cap space.

Likely cap hits are off but if they get 2/4 they are a better team. If they get 4/4 tell me that’s not a contender
