ROUND 1TEAMORIGINALPLAYERDETAILS
Logo of the San Jose Sharks-The consensus #1 overall pick. Him and Smith will create a very good 1-2 punch. However, their defense is extremely lacking, so if they do end up with this pick, it's not unlikely to say they could trade down
Logo of the Chicago Blackhawks-This pick is really between whether they want the big centre in Lindstrom or the small skilled winger in Demidov. Personally, I think that they should select Lindstrom, because their good forwards aren't all that big (Bedard 5'10, Nazar 5'10, Moore 5'11, Reichel 6'0, Kurashev 6'0) and while size isn't a huge factor, it's still important to have some big players because your small guys will get killed in the playoffs if they don't have a protector
Logo of the Anaheim Ducks-The Ducks have explained that they are searching for a top-6 right shot forward and a top-4 right shot defenseman this offseason. The player that makes the most sense for them to take here is Artyom Levshunov, considering his ceiling is a first pair right shot defenseman.
Logo of the Columbus Blue Jackets-This pick is really a wild card to me. They could go LD if they don't have faith in Werenski always being healthy + Mateychuk being able to fill in for him if that happens. They could go C if they don't see Johnson as a long term top 6 C. They could go RD if they think David Jiricek will get traded. Based on this, I think they'll just end up picking the best LD, and if ever need be, shift Werenski or Mateychuk to RD.
Logo of the Montreal Canadiens-The Habs simply need a skilled top six forward to work on their forward group, and Demidov falling to them will be exactly what they need.
Logo of the Ottawa Senators-Their biggest need right now is a right shot defenseman, but if they can't get that, they should be selecting the best forward available. In this scenario, that forward is Berkly Catton. However, their F group could use some third and fourth line depth prospects
Logo of the Seattle Kraken-Seattle would ideally want the best defenseman available with this pick, but they are more in need of right shot defensemen. They still go BPA though
Logo of the Calgary Flames-The Flames go for their promised child with this pick, and it's a good pick at this position.
Logo of the New Jersey Devils-The Devils are set on defense and probably in net as well. Their top six has Nico Hischier, Jack Hughes, Timo Meier, Jesper Bratt, and Dawson Mercer. With every passing day, it looks like Alex Holtz won't be part of this of this top six, which means that the Devils should be selecting a top six player with this pick. Eiserman is a good fit as a goal scoring threat.
Logo of the Buffalo Sabres-This is a great fit for Buffalo in my opinion. They need a top four defender, and Yakemchuk could be that when paired with Dahlin, Power, or Byram
Logo of the Philadelphia Flyers-This is an interesting pick for the Flyers to make here. Obviously their biggest need is centre, because it seems the best C they have in the system is Frost, but they also have Zeev Buium, a possible steal at this time of the draft, on the board. I think the choice is between Hage and Buium, and if I'm Philly, knowing York and Sanheim can play RD, I'm taking Buium.
Logo of the Minnesota Wild-TRADE: The Minnesota Wild trade pick 13, pick 110, and pick 174 to the Montreal Canadiens for Justin Barron, Bogdan Konyushkov, and pick 29. The Wild's motivation to move down at this pick is that their biggest need is a second pair RD for when Jared Spurgeon retires, considering he's 34 years old. They have no reason to reach on the next best RD here, which is probably Adam Jiricek, whos ranked in the late teens/early 20s. They get two RDs in Barron and Konyushkov, who could become that second pair guy. The Habs can afford to move on from those guys considering they already have David Reinbacher as well as Logan Mailloux who can play top 4 minutes soon. They also are in a range where lots of defensemen are available when they need forwards, so they move up and select centre Michael Hage.
Logo of the San Jose SharksLogo of the Pittsburgh PenguinsThere's honestly a lot of good picks for the Sharks here that will all bolster their offense. I think that the right pick here is Konsta Helenius, because it gives the Sharks another top six player to work with. They do need defensemen, so if a trade comes up where a team offers a defenseman for the pick, they should definitely take it.
Logo of the Detroit Red Wings-It feels like the Red Wings SHOULD be set for the forseeable future - they just can't make the playoffs. At this point they should be taking just the best player available.
Logo of the Washington Capitals-Not sure why they're in the 16th position here, I think it should be STL. Not 100% sure though. We'll still treat this like WSH's pick here - a team that SHOULD be rebuilding. I think they should be picking BPA for the start of their retool
Logo of the St. Louis Blues-I remain adamant that the Blues need to pick a defenseman with this pick. Unfortunately there's really no defensemen that make sense to pick here, so they should probably go with the best forward available.
Logo of the New York Islanders-TRADE: New York Islanders trade pick 18 to Utah HC in exchange for Lawson Crouse. NYI is locked into a long playoff window with Horvat, Barzal, Pelech, Pulock, Sorokin signed for at least 5 more years, and Dobson an RFA who'll likely get a lucrative payday. They need immediate help if they want to get out of their mediocrity, and Crouse gives them that. Crouse doesn't really have a top six spot with Utah in the future, so they swap him for a draft pick, which they pick BPA with.
Logo of the Vegas Golden Knights-It's no doubt that whoever VGK picks will get traded within 2 years of being drafted, so to maximize what they're getting in return, they should just take BPA
Logo of the Chicago BlackhawksLogo of the Tampa Bay LightningAfter going F with their first pick, it's not a bad idea for them to simply pick BPA here
Logo of the Los Angeles Kings-Here, I think their best bet is to pick a LD who'll be a good fit with Doughty, Clarke, and Spence. However, I don't think you're getting a guy like that at this pick so they should just pick a F.
Logo of the Nashville Predators-Their defensive core is quite old. I don't think its a bad idea for them to take a defenseman.
Logo of the Toronto Maple Leafs-Their biggest need to me is a right shot defenseman. I don't think that Mews is the answer to their problems, but they need someone who can complement Rielly or whoever else they get
Logo of the Anaheim DucksLogo of the Edmonton OilersDucks can really just pick BPA here
Logo of the Colorado Avalanche-Colorado can either go with picking a guy who could be a 2RD or a 2nd line winger. I say they go with the winger considering there's not a lot of RDs left
Logo of the Ottawa SenatorsLogo of the Boston BruinsThey need some middle six or bottom six players here, having Tyler Boucher on your third line isn't it
Logo of the Calgary FlamesLogo of the Vancouver CanucksNot really sure what the Flames should do here. They need high end talent but they aren't getting that at 27. I guess they go with BPA as long as they don't take a LD
Logo of the Philadelphia FlyersLogo of the Florida PanthersTRADE: The Philadelphia Flyers trade pick 28 to the St. Louis Blues for Scott Perunovich, pick 81, and pick 145. The Flyers are still in need of a centre, but they won't get one here, so they trade the pick to the Blues, a team who needs LD. Fortunately, there's lots of LD for St. Louis to pick from here.
Logo of the Montreal CanadiensLogo of the Winnipeg JetsWith the pick acquired from Montreal, the Wild find that there aren't many RD that make sense to take here, but some people are high on this player, so they reach slightly for this guy
Logo of the Carolina Hurricanes-Carolina's defensive core is all expiring by the end of 2025. Not good. Need to add some more defensemen because some will inevitably leave
Logo of the Dallas Stars-As good as Harley and Heiskanen may be, the Stars still don't have RD depth in their prospect pool, so they should probably pick a RD here
Logo of the New York Rangers-Forward core is set for years to come. Their priority is probably getting a better LD to play with Fox or Trouba

I honestly cant see CHI taking a F (beside Celebrini). There are so many great Ds, and any scouts you talk to will tell you that the only way to get a top pairing D is to draft him. You might say that the same thing can be said with 1Cs, but CHI already has a pretty good one… And they have only 2 potential top 4 D with only (potentially) Korchinski becoming a number 2 but most likely a 3

And I think that MIN trade is realistic (though I think Hughes would tone it down to 25th OA + Barron for 13th straight up. Thats more than enough value considering Barrons pedigree and position.

And I cant see MTL passing up on Sennecke for a small C in Hage especially after drafting Demidov. Helenius and MBN would be better pick too imo
