15th overall is worth more than 23/24. Plus depends what Carolina really wants. 15th and a roster player or would that prefer a prospect to save the cap dollars.

So from a Vancouver perspective is this like a first, fourth, and then like Raty?

I think he’s worth the same as Fiala minus a downgraded Faber.

B to B+ prospect and a late 1st

Hes worth less than debrincat who is a premier goal scorer in the nhl. Necas isnt.

With no contract in hand necas is worth a late 1st and a b/c tier prospect. Teams arent going to offer more when they also have to overpay him.

Plus there was more pressure on Ottawa to move DeBrincat. He said he wouldn't be resigning with Ottawa at the end of the season.

Necas had the same amount of points in the playoffs as Guentzel despite playing 2 and a half minutes less per game. Do they keep Necas and let Guentzel walk?

I think it's the other way around.

My understanding is Carolina wants to keep Guentzel and trade Necas.

I'd rather have Guentzel signed for 8 more years + a 1st + whatever else the Canes get for Necas ...

instead of just Necas + a wave goodbye to Guentzel when he becomes a UFA on July 1st.

The Guentzel-Aho-Svechnikov trio was by far Carolina's best line during the playoffs and I'd want that chemistry to carry over into next season as well. .

Also, for what the Canes traded away for Guentzel at the deadline, I'd want to accomplish more with him besides a second round exit.

But that's just me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You are probably right but with Necas being 5yrs younger and will more than likely be cheaper giving them cap that could be used elsewhere I wouldn't write off Necas so quickly.
