If Marner actually gets dealt, there are going to be swaths of deeply dismayed folks in Toronto. Nobody is paying 4+ 1sts in value for him. You'd be lucky to get half that much.

And it definitely will NOT be coming from the Blues.

This is a huge overpayment for the Blues for a guy with only one season left on his contract. They MIGHT be able to get Parayko OR Neighbours but not both. Even if we assume there's an extension in place I don't think the Blues would give up quite this much.

Leafs would be smart to stay away from the Parayko contract. He is in steep decline. And the Blues are not giving up Parayko AND Neighbours for Marner. No chance. Let alone anything else. Neighbours and a couple of picks maybe? Thats about it. Leafs dont want any of these over the hill D men.

Guy who had career best year = steep decline.

Is your only factor on that Age? Because by that measurement Reilly is also in "Steep Decline"

If there Blues were to make a deal for Marner, the only logical way it would make sense is for it to be a larger deal with Kyrou swapping for Marner.

If there's a target that would fill a hole for the Blues it would probably be Tavares, depending on the cost to acquire. This helps with the cap situation in Toronto and gives the Blues a stop-gap to bridge to Dvorsky. However, NMCs are a thing.

Yes. Rielly is in decline and thats one of the reasons why Toronto should be considering trying to move out his anchor contract. The same reason why people who are Blues fans keep trying to offer Parayko for Marner. Because they want Parayko gone. Because they are a better team with his cap space back than with him. Not to mention the fact that that contract goes on for 6 MORE YEARS lolol Marner for Kyrou makes no sense either. Leafs mind as well just keep Marner. He is the better of the two. Kyrou for Marner makes the Leafs a worse team. Leafs are looking for cap space, picks they can flip, or young stud D men. Blues have none of these things. Unless they want to do a straight picks trade. Which they cant do because they are capped out already. And as you said NMC's are a thing. And Marner is not waiving his to go to St Louis lol

You realize that 95% of the parayko to the leafs threads are created by Leafs fans correct?

I haven't ran into a single Blues fan on this forum that wants to trade Parayko.

Contrary to salary cap it's even more important to have a defenseman who can actually play defense. There are only so many Makar's and Hughes in which defense is secondary because of how high-end they are at controlling the puck.

You cannot replace what Parayko brings for 6.5m AAV in the UFA market.

24 teams cannot sign the same 3 players that are available in UFA who will likely get paid near that ballpark number. I know it's a hard concept to grasp, but it's not realistic.

Exactly no Blues fans have offered Parayko for Marner. Almost none want him gone, and the few who do are the dumbest Blues fans possible, dumber than seems real. Your grasp of factual reality regarding all things Parayko is abysmal, man.

You cannot replace what Parayko DID bring. Leafs have a 4-6 year window. Paraykos window for being considered the type of D man worthy of a guy like Marner is over already. lol Anyways. Obviously we arent going to agree on that. Fact remains, Leafs are looking for D men for a long window and Parayko doesnt fit that window. Not on that contract. If Paraykos contract was 3 years shorter or 2m cheaper. Then ya sure.

Well, yeah, because there are like 4 Blues fans on this website lmfao. A good chunk of the fans on here are Leaf fans.

And go my goodness god forbid people make mock trades on a mock trade website.

Calling your own fans "the dumbest Blues fans possible" over an opinion might be why you're one of this sites most disliked users. Food for thought.

Ok lol. Good luck in the playo....Oh right lol. Are you serious? The blues are capped out. Full of long term expensive contracts. And are not even making the playoffs. I dont know how to tell you, but when you look at where this team is on capfriendly, they should be cup contending. And they are a non factor team. So I would not be so quick to judge others on how great you think the players and contracts you have are. This team is in rebuild mode before they even got into competitive mode lol Good luck. I dont see any teams swooping in to save you from those D contracts anytime soon.

If you post the trade it’s under the assumption you want discussion. There’s no issue with it. The issue is what happens 4-5 times a day when the “4” Blues fans say that we can’t afford to move Parayko and then you have 3 geniuses who don’t follow the Blues spouting about how Parayko is awful, and then the 4 Blues fans respond and a 3rd party like yourself comes in and the cycle repeats itself.

You can probably scroll down and see pretty much the same iteration of Marner going to the Blues and Parayko going to the Leafs and the same thing being done over and over again.

Point being Blues aren’t in a position to trade Parayko and also aren’t in a position to sign Marner long term with Kyrou under contract long term.

I’d Parayko a 1D? No, is he being paid like one? No.

You're trying way too hard. No Leafs fan needs to be trotting out the playoffs jibe. Obviously.
