Yeah, I think tampa declines. Clifton got better as the year went on, but I think tampa is not gonna wanna add his salary. Clifton is an undersized hitter that plays at a third pair level, 3m isn't a bargain for that, and tampa has to watch where they spend. I'm not sure what the Sabres motivation would be here- eyssimont and a third doesn't do anything, so it would just be the Sabres moving a right shot physical d, something that have have none of, just to get rid of Cliftons salary.

TB doesn't do undersized defensemen. They aren't overpaying Clifton his $3,000,000+ he isn't really any better than what they have anyway.
Cooper loves Mikey Eyssimont, and they're not throwing the limited draft capital on a guy who at best is a 6th defenseman.
