The Jets aren't paying to take two bad contracts off of Pittsburgh's hands and downgrade their defense at the same time

First off, they're both only rentals.. Second, Graves is a upgrade over Schmidt this year and cheaper too. Third, Rakell is for some more grit in the middle 6 which the Jets are lacking, especially if they want to go deep in the playoffs..

Both players have term and have played terrible this year lol

First off, neither are rentals according to Cap Friendly. Second, Graves would be 4th or 5th on on the left side alone and the Jets have zero need for LHD. Third, Rakell isn't good enough for the top 6 and is too expensive for the bottom six.

It's awful for Winnipeg no matter how you look at it.
